Introduction
The Golden Age of any country is a blessed time, one in which most gods smile fondly upon the people of their given domains. During these times of splendor the people are blessed with: bountiful harvests, a flourishing economy, a nearly nonexistant crime rate, possibly even a larger influx of native art and cultural enrichment. Gods, however, are highly fickle beings. It does not take much for them to grow bored with or angry at the petty mortals which grovel at their collective feet. For mortals of all species, as irrepairably flawed as we all are, peace and prosperity will always be short-lived at best. Golden Ages end, birthing tension and war from the ashes in which they've crumbled. The land of Arlae has it particularly difficult as of late.
{{This is due to two key factors: heavy racial tensions between Arlae's settlements' various inhabitants and the civil war that's taking place over the empty throne. The latter is due to the late King's siring several bastards amongst the maidservants and the late Queen's recent assassination. (Before anyone asks, they never had children with each other. Just several bastards, some of which more popular than others.) The former has always been around, having never quite been eliminated since slavery and racial discrimination in the guilds and mage colleges has been outlawed two hundred years ago. Certain races are long-lived enough to have been alive even in those days, making things all the more tense between all.}}
In times of darkness such as these, heroes are born. Born to fight off injustice. Born to right wrongs. Born in an entirely different story, for the bold adventurers that hog the spotlight in this tale are a bunch of assholes out to use Arlae's suffering to their advantage, to advance their impure goals and ambitions. What I'm wondering is how they'll go about it, how long it takes until they betray each other enough for them to murder one another, and for how long they can cooperate to accomplish their goals at most.

Rules1. Follow Gaia's Terms of Service. If you haven't read them yet, you totally should. Otherwise, you shouldn't even be here.
2. Part of obeying rule number one means that you aren't permitted to engage in cybering in this thread. If you do so, take it to the PM's or timeskip because I do not want to see it.
3. God-modding, Auto-Hitting, Disemboweling another's character without permission, and overall Power-Play is not acceptable unless I've given the okay ahead of time - and only for "cleaning inactive loose ends" or storyline purposes. However, do note that having powerful characters is perfectly acceptable. Just understand that flaws and weaknesses, even if there are only few, are nothing to be feared.
4. Do not take it personally if someone else's character is mean to yours. So long as the actual roleplayer isn't antagonizing you in OOC, this is called conflict. Conflict is good for any story, as it keeps it from being DROP DEAD BORING AS s**t MAN. Love it. Embrace it. Sleep with it under your pillow at night. Whatever you do, just understand that conflict is a vital part of any decent roleplay.
5. This roleplay will be modled somewhat like a DnD Campaign. Many aspects of the main plot will be planned out ahead of time, every party member is expected to have at least one "Personal Quest" planned out, many of the basic classes provided by DnD will be used, and we will be using the DnD Alignment System for all characters sent in. {{This is a link to TVTropes' summary on the Alignments. If you don't know them by now, I highly suggest checking them out.}}
6. When posting, please type legibly and with semi-literacy. This means I expect you to do your best with grammar and that I expect at least three sentences per in-character post. Also, never ever use **'s for actions. Use quotation marks for speach. {{Don't worry; I'm not a grammar nazi. All I'm asking is that you spell out your words and type it out to where we can read and reply to it.}} These standards aren't high in the least, so I'll be damned if I budge on this rule.
7. The main FIVE**, which is the MAIN PARTY, are the main focus. Not a random, unrelated and probably noncombatant extra character. Antagonists will recieve plenty of attention, but again... You know what? Don't send in any profiles for extras unless they're going to be reoccuring. (Chances are, that means that they either travel a lot or live somewhere extra important. Merchants, low-key Antagonists, relatives* of the FIVE PARTY MEMBERS, ect. ect.) *with that character's owner's permission and mine **Main Five all Lawful Evil, Neutral Evil, or Chaotic Evil. Only exception is mine, which is Chaotic Neutral, which is close enough anyway.
8. Use the profile skeleton I provide. It's simple, easy to fill out, and neatly coded. You have no excuse to rip one from somewhere else or to screw mine up. You will also never post your profile skeletons in the thread unless I give permission for special circumstances. You will PM them to me with your character's Allignment as the title.
9. Please try to be active if you join. I can understand that daily life can really distract you, especially under extenuating circumstances. All I ask is that you put the effort in to post every now and again and that you do your utmost to keep up.
10. Have fun! More rules can and will be added in as I see fit. Have a problem with that? Kiss my a** and have a nice day. If not, well, I'm happy to hear that. ^.^

The Four Adventurers
Username: Ayame-Yuura Name: Lady Arathel of Desmarais (De•ma•rei) / Arathel Desmarais / Arathel the Tamer Race: Half-Elf Gender: Female Age: 24 Class: Archer Alignment: Lawful Evil Open Book Bio: Arathel is one of the more popular of the royal bastards although some are shining more brightly than her currently and this makes her uncomfortable. She is the daughter of Countess Desmarais (heir presumptive of the late count) belonging to the Elven order. She is seen as a well-mannered and beloved lady by all although the less naive can sense the ambition seething through her calm and cool exterior. It is a political race after all and she wasn't going to be outdone at any cost.
Among her abilities, musical talent is the most noted as inherited from her Elven mother. It is said that her singing voice can bend and melt the heart of even the coldest men. Hardly anyone can match her talent even among the 'pure' elves and her favorite instrument is the flute. In fact, she received her personal title 'the tamer' from a very famous story about her. A late cavalry captain's legendary horse once ran loose in town and almost trampled her as a little girl but before the wild stallion could, she pulled out her flute and tamed it with the melody. Once calmed, the horse let the then petite half elf mount it and she kept the horse ever since. The only other animal often seen with her is a messenger pigeon often perched on her shoulder. Another talent she has is archery although she insisted at first that it was purely for sport.
Coming to a conclusion that sitting by won't do her any good, she decided she would travel the land, spreading her name. Attaching benevolent deeds to her name would also boost her reputation. So, she gathered the talented to her in an effort to outdo the other children of the king in popularity by being more 'hands-on'. Besides, she has another unknown motive pressing her on. Closed Book Bio: Arathel may be polite and well-mannered on the outside but she is also a perfect example that 'nice is not good' as she would be smiling even as she 'vanquishes' her enemies. Actually, what enemies? Anyone who isn't on her good side disappears for unknown reasons or gets framed for a crime they didn't commit although there is nothing that traces the crimes back to her. Sometimes, she does her own dirty work for the fun of it and other times, she would hire others to do away with things that hinder her. As such was the case with the queen although she sent someone else to request the assassination and swiftly had that person disposed of so nothing could trace the deed back to her. She is actually a control freak, obsessed with keeping her name clean and making sure all dirty deeds are done behind the curtain. She will not let anything get in the way of her 'Quest for the Crown' including other potential heirs which leads to the 'true' goal of her journey - to eliminate as many of the king's other children as possible and keeping only the weak, unpopular and naive alive as they pose no threat to her claim on the throne.
As for Arathel's true class, she is actually a sorceress adept at using Elven chants in musical form although she hides this in case the other heirs accuse her of 'bewitching'. She claims often that these are Elven folk songs that help her get by when she gets a little lonely but these are often charm spells that draws the listeners to her. When used successfully, often, it makes the listener fall in love with her and do whatever she pleases. Her flute is actually an Elven heirloom passed to her by her mother. Its main purpose is to control and 'tame' the listener. For elves, this is mainly for self-defense as they often don't have the mind to use it to manipulate people. However, Arathel's human heart that possesses both a great selfishness and ambition allows her to use it in this way.
Also, the only two living creatures that Arathel truly cares for and would hesitate to sacrifice for her own life are her prized stallion, Amadeo, whose heart she won through taming and Ruthibelle the messenger pigeon, also because it is her familiar. Amadeo, because it would take years and good breeding to produce a horse as powerful or as fast and she has been building a strong relationship with the majestic stallion since she was a little girl. Ruthibelle because this pigeon conveys most of her messages to people and also because every magic-user would highly favor their own familiar. Themesong(s):
Tell me Something I Dont Know - Selena Gomez Papa was a Rolling Sone - The Temptations Orientation: Completely straight but will capture women's hearts if it proves useful to her Lover(s): Appearance:
Other: Arathel has an enchanted tattoo on her right arm. It triggers a light barrier when she is given a surprise attack but can only be used once a day since the shield has to be given time to rebuild. It also helps alert her of nearby dange other than her keen Elven senses.
Username: Animeprincess_9400 Name: Valena Race: Human, if you believe the good ol' devilkin shapeshifting magic at work. Truthfully, however, her race is Devilkin. Gender: Female Age: It's never polite to ask a lady her age. Several hundred years old, perhaps three or four centuries old at least. Class: Cleric Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Open Book Bio: Valena is a travelling Cleric in the service of an obscure, foreign god and has come to spread his name across the war-stricken and seemingly faithless people of Arlae. She is not your stereotypical saintly priestess, however. Valena is a joyful cynic with a filthy mind and penchant for finding company of the worst sort. With her unusual personality and highly questionable ethics, it's a wonder to anyone as to how any order could take her. It is even more of an oddity when one considers her flair for both hexes and healing magics alike. Closed Book Bio: Valena is the youngest spawn of a powerful arch-devil, one which rules over a particularly large domain in the Thousand Hells. Devils gain power through the fanatic belief and adoration of their worshippers, and for Valena to be able to inherit even a portion of the land in Hell which her father has promised her, she must create a cult large enough to provide her said power. A seccondary goal for her is to find a worthy Champion to her 'cause', prefferably one that can sire her an heir for her father and ensure an eternity free from the stressful work and responsibilities of demonic polotics.
At one point in the past, she had nearly accomplished the latter. A couple hundred years ago she was far more innocent and idealistic, more akin to a missborn holy child than a selfish and highly lustful demon spawn. Before starting her campaign to create a demonic cult large enough to elevate her status to that of an Archdevil, known as a 'Dark King' or 'Demon God' in the human realms, she had travelled with a group of adventurers barely remeniscent to those she finds herself with now. Among which was a particularly bitter, chauvenistic a*****e with a smart mouth and love for stabbing things. Of all people to connect with for Valena it was him, which gradually influenced her to become the corrupt hedonist that she is today. For awhile, things went smoothly, for they were sort of like the 'Bonnie and Clyde' of their time. Unfortunately for Valena, one of the other companions which they travelled with did not approve of the influence they had on one another. In an attempt to prevent Valena from becoming any more corrupt, to attempt to keep her from becoming just as wicked with the power she held as her ancestors did before her, this wary spellcaster tricked Valena's lover into helping banish her back to the Thousand Hells from which she came. What happened to either of them after that, however, Valena is unsure. What she does know is that this was a learning experience, the final straw that broke the camel's back in regards to her innocence and naivety.
It took at least another hundred years of calling favors, sleeping with particularly influential archdemons, and brown-nosing her father to get the banishment spell removed so that she may return to the mortal world once more. She is more committed to her primary goal than ever, but the events that lead up to her banishment dwell on her still. As things are, Valena is still 'undecided' as to whether or not she shall serve the side of good or evil. As the tale goes along, she will eventually come to terms with what has happened, one way or another. Depending on her companion's treatment of her, whether or not she gets revenge on the one who sealed her away, and whether or not she can find a way to ressurect her old love and rekindle old flames, her alignment will change for the better or for the worst. Themesong(s): Porcelain and the Tramps - King of the World Avenged Sevenfold - A Little Piece of Heaven Orientation: Bisexual Lover(s): Appearance: Other: As a 'human', Valena does not have the horns or wings. In devilkin form, however, she most certainly does.
Username: Zelly-fangirl Name: Mara Zrael Race: Drow Gender: Female Age: 207 Class: Assassin Alignment: Neutral Evil Open Book Bio: Mara is an assassin for hire, and a rather talented one at that. It doesn't matter who you want killed, she'll do it, for the price. When it comes to her job, she's all business, but off the clock she's....well, she's a b***h. A really sarcastic b***h. Closed Book Bio: Mara was the one hired to kill the queen. She doesn't know who hired her or why they wanted it done, due to her 'ask no questions' policy in the business, but she frankly couldn't care less. Themesong(s): Optional. Allowed more than one, if you so wish. Orientation: Bisexual Lover(s): Appearance: Other: She's not a morning person and has a short temper when it comes to idiots and incompetency.
Username: N K Cake Name: Nar'ghr-gyl / Nar the Mad / Demon of Arlae / Blood Maw Race: Gnoll Gender: Male Age: 31 Class: Barbarian Alignment: Chaotic Evil Open Book Bio: A ruthless murderer, outlawed from all civilized kingdoms with a punishment of immediate execution if he were to return, and thrown out from any uncivilized circles with threats of death.
By sensible folk recognized as a vicious and savage villain who will kill anyone and anything that moves, and a serial r*pist. Known publicly as the Demon of Arlae.
By authorities profiled as a heavy drinker, short tempered and extremely violent. To be killed on sight. Was once attempted to be integrated into the Arlean military, but surrounding him with fighters and lots of weapons turned out as bad an idea as predicted by anyone with common sense. Has been held up in most if not all prisons in the nation, restraint now considered by city guards to be useless. Officially merely known as Nar the Outlaw, the Mad, the Murderer, and numerous relative terms. Reportedly originating from the Western savage tribes of Gnolls, but little information available on such matters.
In the underbelly of Arlae recognized as an unstable yet effective mercenary. Not worth the trouble, but will get the job done, and most likely murder you as well. Someone always looking for a fight, and if you see him enter a bar - leave before a brawl starts. Mercenary code name; Blood Maw, from the common sight of seeing his furry snout covered in gore during and after a job. There are ridiculous rumors as to his origin including being simply being born from hatred and death, or by the mechanics of evil Gods. It is recognized that the only few people Nar has ever respected were individuals able to match up to him in combat, or otherwise satisfy his interests - without setting off his bad temper.
All know him as very angry and very vocal about that too, and quick to punch anything for looking him the wrong way.
Closed Book Bio: Born to a tribe of nomadic Gnolls, quite a common life for the species, as they are not widely integrated into common civilized society. Particularly strong physically since childhood, but with certain attitude issues. He has also had a certain medical issue since being young which causes him to have severe headaches at unpredictable times, and always causes him to lash out physically. His violent tendencies were not precisely appreciated, and pushed other people away, which made him grow quite lonesome and wanting attention. It made young Narr'ghr-gyl act up increasingly poorly and more violently, which was only met with greater displeasure toward him and great violence, effectively creating a circle of hatred that eventually went too far. Problems arose, a little squabble ended with another child dead, and he was instantly banished, whether or not that was an accident.
Young Nar survived the start of his teen years through theft from human settlements, a start to a life of crime simply due to necessity. First time thrown into a holding cell when caught attempting to rob food. Ended up having a fit in the small village prison, killed the sheriff and his deputy attempting to hold him in pure rage. Then took a very lustful interest in the sheriff's daughter who had been present, and let his male urges have their way. The girl had lost her life come morning time and Nar was gone. His beast-like nature was enforced by the thought that he should merely take what he wanted, as no one would help him nor could he earn his keep when shunned by all, and his ever growing physical prowess meant that he could.
The boy grew into a menace as a young adult, ruthlessly conquering what he desired; women and material goods, food, etc, with little consideration for who got in the way. A common human could hardly stand up to the hulking beast that tore relentlessly away at who ever challenged him. He got into circles where brute strength was appreciated; banditry and the like. However it soon became evident that it was difficult to maintain an alliance with the Gnoll, as during his outbursts of sudden and unbelievable rage he would kill anyone; friend or foe. He was particularly violent when he was drinking, and became drunken and truly uncontrollable.
His infamy grew with his age, as he carved a bloody path through wherever he wandered, only to disappear swiftly into the surrounding woods or countryside when hunted by bounty hunters and soldiers. Long distance travel by foot is common for his kind, and he certainly did not lack any endurance, and so he traveled a lot through the land - on the run, seeking security and to satisfy himself. Such a lifestyle was quickly brought into the attention of authorities as well as any darker groups needing more brutal grunt work. That included religious folk following darker forces and chaotic Gods, kings and rebel groups, as well as militant groups. In any venture, however, one thing became evident; the Gnoll shared no allegiance, forced to relentless violence and war against all things by his mental instability and general attitude. Also promised victory in any fight due to his beastly strength and fighting technique. Few things ever got on his good side enough to make him act orderly or respectful.
It was as part of a larger mercenary force that Nar ended up in all out war between nations for the first time. His brutality was of course appreciated by his allies, and feared by his enemies; till it turned on those he was supposed to be fighting for. This particular clash between armies ended up in the defeat for the side that Nar was supposedly fighting for and numerous rumors were produced of what became of that particular Gnoll. For those interested in tales of his ventures on any level, the most popular story is that the the Gnoll was the only survivor and drove off the entire remainder of the enemy force by himself. Other rumors include that he died, only to come back to haunt the enemy camp the next night and ever since. The one always told to the public and seen as most likely is that Nar died off and his menace is over.
Whatever the case, the Gnoll is alive and throughout his life developed into an embodiment of ferocity, a nightmare told to children to make sure they behaved, a fierce drinker and limitless womanizer. He lives with little direction, working in the underground of Arlae, and there are regularly small reports of his obvious criminal activity, after which he has quickly vanished from general know-how. Through numerous punishment for his actions, prison time, combat and survival experience, Nar has a very knowledgeable side, at least when his berserker rage does not take over his senses, which happens a lot and very easily.
Much of this information is simply not known by anyone for no one knows him on a personal level. Only his limitless rage is commonly talked of.
Themesong(s): Orientation: Straight - will force himself on any female when in the mood, whether that person wants it or not. Lover(s): Appearance:
Other: Nar'ghr-gyl's weapons consist mainly of his hands and claws; but to support that he favours spiked knuckle dusters that let him get up close, and heavy blunt weapons. He will go to the extent of carrying a shield to protect from 'pesky' long range opponents.
Username: Anniria Name: Alice Race: Human Gender: Female Age: 15 Class: illusionist/conjurer Alignment: Neutral Evil Open Book Bio: Nothing, nothing at all is known about her, whenever anyone asks she only says that she wants "Friends" Closed Book Bio: Alice has been the cause of a string of child disappearances having lured them away from their homes and families with the promise of mystical lands where nothing could go wrong and then sending them there for all eternity. There have been reports of children that have gone missing being discovered days later just staring off at nothing, not responding to anything in this world any attempts to communicate just locking the one who attempted in Alice's wonderland, one that was far more lethal and twisted than any child could think of. Themesong(s): Her name is Alice - Shinedown Come Little Children/A Magic Melody - DHT Orientation: bisexual Lover(s): Appearance: Other:always carries a white stuffed rabbit with her.
