The elevator clattered to a halt and the doors slid open. At once the incredibly dim light of the false sky filled the darkness of the elevator, which looked out on the uppermost walkway. The air was noticeably colder here; even though the sky was sunny and the islands in the Void thus far had been warm, the R&D Department was at most fifty degrees Fahrenheit.

Bast made no move to exit the lift, as she was planning on going back upstairs once more; now that she was up and about, it made no sense to sit back down again after so short a trip.

"Have fun," she said, crossing her arms. "Joan's on the bottom floor. You'll know you're close when the sensor starts looking frosty."

San gave his sensei a small bow, and exited the lift. He was rather happy she had told him to grab extra cloths...this place was freezing compared to the hot sun of suna! Walking and following the signs, the ninja looked for the one called Joan.

Bast was about to send the elevator back up when a small box ran up to her on four legs. It stopped just outside the elevator and sat down patiently while the woman fished out the vial she had taken from the checkpoint for Zyonu earlier. The woman placed the vial in the box and sent it off just as the doors began to close.

San would most likely feel dwarfed by the massive scale of the R&D Department's main room. The walkways were long and wide, the ceiling was created to look like the sky, and the massive ball of water in the middle of the room could have easily filled up a score of Olympic swimming pools with plenty of water to spare. A fine mist floated a few floors below his position, and below that it became very thick very quickly. The only signs he would encounter would mark the floor number, and until he got to the lowest level, he would encounter few people who did not look busy.

San, after feeling the deference in the floors, hoped to find any method to get down to the lower levels. After finding any such way, he would find his way to the lowest level, looking for the frosty sensors.

As San descended through the room, the fog would get thicker until he was a few floors the lowest level, at which point in completely cleared. The ball of water was frosty down there, to say the least; the orb of liquid above seemed to be constantly freezing over in the near-zero temperatures of the lowest floor, although the ice cracked and thawed frequently. If San looked around the lowest floor when he got there instead of heading directly for the door with several chairs outside it, he would notice the familiar shape of the Princess sitting at the bottom of the sensory bubble of water, pounding the ice occasionally to keep it from spreading too quickly.

San followed the platforms and eventually passed princess, giving a small wave as he passed her. Down and down he went...looking for the person in charge

The only non-laboratory door on the bottom level was the one with chairs in front of it. The rest of the doors were the typical cold white metal of the rest of the labs, whereas the peculiar door was made of a dark wood with an ornate inscription across it in an old language. From under the door came a dim gray light, and as San stood on the bottom floor, nowhere lower to go, the door's latch clicked and the barrier cracked open just enough for Zyonu (called "Joan" by Bast) to step out of her office. From what little that could be seen from the slight opening of the door, the office was crowded; the view had been nothing but shelves of books and strange objects, all painstakingly categorized. The box that had taken the vial from Bast skittered out, running off on another errand before the door closed.

Zyonu stood just outside her door wearing a pale blue dress and a long white lab coat. The dress came down just past her knees, but the coat almost touched the ground and obscured whatever footwear she was donning. The cut of her dress came down just enough to show little skin and give a relaxed look, but the free area was mostly covered by a silver crucifix studded with a large, round ruby in the center. The woman looked at San coolly with dark emerald eyes as if she were calculating something. Her vibrant red hair faded for an unknown reason to a shade of silver lighter than Bast's, and as soon as it was finished the only points of strong color remaining on Zyonu's person were her eyes and the ruby of the crucifix.

San was rather perplexed with this new miyamoto. He approached slowly, trying to peak through the barriers and the doors while showing his hands to show he was unarmed.

"Hey....my name is Sanshi Satetsu from Sunagakure. I am a student of Bastet Miyamoto, and Mamoru miyamoto. Can i....ask you your name?...."

Zyonu made no move to approach San when he walked toward her. In the open area of the bottom floor, she felt absolutely no need to avoid retaliating if he attacked, so the potential element of threat that the Satetsu might have otherwise had was completely gone.

"Zyonu," the woman responded flatly. This was accompanied by no explanation or further expansion, and would not have had any even if it were in another language. Being in her natural environment did not seem to have changed her disposition much since the breakout from the ANBU checkpoint.

San seemed slightly taking off by the cold and calculating individual, but was also slightly impressed with what was going on. With a respectful, and almsot awe like tone, the ninja spoke.

"Um...Bast said that their were places to train down here....is this true. Also, may i ask what you are studying down here? I am quite intrigued if its research....."

"By entering one of our training rooms, you authorize the Department of Research and Development to gather data on your session. Do you agree with these terms?" Zyonu's voice was level and trained. Her lack of interest in the fact that San was an outside Shinobi implied that it had nothing to do with how she worked, something which was both commendable and scary at the same time if taken to extremes. "Your request for information can be addressed later."

Nearby, the Princess cracked open another layer of ice. The crack echoed very slightly throughout the area, punctuating the silence that followed Zyonu's words. The light dimmed very slightly for a moment after the ice began to settle once more, but Zyonu did not acknowledge it.

San nodded, showing his approval before speaking. This was rather an interesting place, and he hoped to learn as much aout it while he was here.

"Yes i do...."

Zyonu blinked.

"What are you training, specifically?" she asked. She held up a hand and a clipboard formed in it. She pulled out a pencil and held it over the board, looking ready to write whatever necessary.

San decided an honest answer was best. They where not enemies here, and ast had showed him this place for a reason. With a honest and light tone, the satetsu spoke.

"Well i just bought some of the Void specific technique scrolls from the clock tower disctrict, and i wanted to play with them before we had to leave again."
