Dice Roller vs Random Number Generator

You know, the dice roller program has been rather FAIL lately, I've noticed. It's been kicking the crap out of us in Keep on the Shadowfell, to say the least.

Time for SCIENCE! 10 d20 rolls, then 10 number generators. Will it work?

d20's: 3, 6, 11, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20
(Unusually good for me)

RNG: 1, 6, 6, 6, 11, 13, 13, 14, 18, 20

The d20 one actually came out better, but the RNG seems to be more of a "traditional" spread. Some high, some low, some average. With a 666 thrown in there for good measure.

when done in batches, the dice seem to be all around the same area, i wonder what would happen if we repeat the experiment with each die rolled separately. it's my suspicion that they both use the same number generator, but one post uses the same, or a similar seed for each number, therefore the dice tend to have similar values per post.

the reason the computer program seems unfair is becuase it is 100% random, where-as rolling real dice is not. with the computer, there is just programing which is completely impartial, but dice can have knicks and dents, not to mention manufacturing errors that make them less 'fair' and to hit certain numbers more often then others.

also, with this sort of experiment, 10 isn't really all the good of a number. The more you use, the better you will get.

My guess is it's just unluckiness that you are encountering.

In statistics, they generally try to have a sample size of n=32 for it to be considered a realistic stat spread.
