So they said there had been some issues in the forest behind Viridian City. Well...they as in the citizens of the little town that once housed a gym that contained the evilest person in the world; the leader of Team Rocket.
Many pokemon were running out of the forest, some bruised and beaten, others just scared stiff. Rhyme was resting with Neku in her lap and watching the Nurse named Joy start taking in some of the pokemon who somehow got into the Pokemon Center. "Please stop whatever is hurting these poor pokemon." The pink-haired woman pleaded with Rhyme, who nodded. "I will. I promise! Come on, Neku!" The Houndour runt barked and jumped off her lap as Rhyme got up. Girl and pokemon made their way out of the Center and headed towards the entrance to that mysterious and somehow violent forest...

A kid stumbled out of the forest clutching his poor Krabby. They both looked terrible... as if someone with one hell of an ugly stick had beaten them senseless. He sniffled and walked past Rhyme while shaking his head.
"Don't go in there! I'm warning you!" He stammered. "This Skullman he... he just..." He whimpered some more and walked off. No sense wasting more breath. His mom was going to raise heck about his scuffle.

"Skullman?" She echoed him as he walked past her, then looked at how horrible he appeared and she let him be as he walked away. Well...this was interesting. "Come on, Neku..." She brought out Glaceon too for support as she took a deep breath in and went into the forest that many could get lost in, trying to figure out where the poor boy had gotten hurt...
Of course along the way her bell started jingling from force of movement, and she placed a hand over it to quiet it down a notch.

The forest was in an uproar. It seemed the closer one was to Pewter City, the worse off things were. Pokemon were fluttering away in masses from the middle of the forest. Something was up.
The bushes shook violently and a wounded Houndoom staggered out. It was in a daze and the second it saw Rhyme...it was on.
"DOOOOM!" Caught up in its fatigue induced rage, the hound couldn't help but attack. Cue on Flamethrower!

"NEKU GLACEON MOVE!" Rhyme managed to scream as she jumped sideways and her pokemon jump-stepped into high gear. Glaceon fired off an Ice Beam at the fire pokemon and watched blankly as Neku moved in for a tackle. Rhyme fumbled for one of her other pokemon, realizing that Noise was a good choice but she wasn't sure of bringing him out.
Lately, he had been trying to attack her and eat her hat--or head--off and she couldn't tell why...

The dog reeled back and growled. It was already in poor shape. Perhaps it had already met the same fate as the little boy and his Krabby? Who was to say...
"H-h-..." It growled and shot out a shotgun blast of Ember towards the Glaceon. It was already limping around like a drunk on a roller coaster.

...Wait a minute. What was she doing!? It was already injured! Glaceon yelped as the Ember sent it skidding backwards a bit, then growling as it prepped another attack.
"No, don't!" The icy pokemon turned to it's "trainer", confused. "It's already hurt....Hey, Houndoom! I--we--didn't mean to attack. I'm so sorry....I just need to get past you so we can save all the others from getting hurt. Can you please let us pass and Glaceon will help you go to the Pokemon Center?" She tried to compromise--she didn't want to hurt it anymore now that it hit her how much pain it was in.

The dog went to fire another deadly blast, but whimpered instead. There was no threat here. It probably wouldn't win at this rate anyway. The Fire Type moved onward and growled.
Up ahead there seemed to be a clearing of sorts. The lack of Pokemon indicated trouble as did several broken branches....

Slowly and cautiously Rhyme moved forwards. Sometimes she paused to look around, but finally she made her way to the edge of the clearing....as Neku trotted forwards into the middle and looked around him. "N-neku, come back here..." Rhyme whispered loudly as Neku looked at her and barked as if to say, (Nothing! Safe!)
...Rhyme definitely did not trust it from the scenery...and she started moving to go get the baby pokemon who was not really a baby anymore..

Luckily, there was no monster afoot. The little clearing was void of just about any living organism. Something had gone down not too long ago and judging by the burned trees, the Houndoom had been apart of the fight. Interesting...
In the middle of the "battlefield" was a strange black chain. Some type of pendant was attached to it and a strange wheel was next to it. A small path had been made to the left of these items. Something had bashed their way deeper into the forest.

Rhyme looked down towards the chain and scooted the Houndour away from it....who immediately took off after the path, following it so immaturely. "Come back, Neku!" she cried, Glaceon following after even through limping slightly as they followed after the little pokemon who Rhyme prayed wouldn't be hurt by whatever this thing was...

The chain had a strange skull pendant attached to it. The owner was obviously a bad a**, or a victim of the Skull-thing in the woods. Naive Rhyme...
The path ended at a dilapidated cabin. No Pokemon were nearby and it was doubtful anyone had lived there in years. Still, there seemed to be some noise coming from inside...then a CRASH!

Neku finally stopped right in front of the door, staring at it before turning tail after the loud crash The fire pokemon was now cowering behind his trainers' legs as she turned her eyes from him to the cabin. Something told her this was going to be one heck of an incident, but she she shook the ominous feelings away and took in a deep breath. She was strong. She and Beat were strong, and now that he kinda wasn't here ('kinda' only because he was always in her mind) she had to be double-strong. For herself and to show Beat she could be strong.
So with another deep breath and a small sigh, Rhyme slowly advanced towards the cabin and once there lifted her hand up carefully and knocked once. "H-hello?"
Great...she wanted to be strong and there she goes stuttering.

Inside there came another crash. A window shattered and what sounded like a Beedrill zoomed away weakly. Silence soon fell and the cabin was motionless. A few deep footsteps were heard getting closer to the door, and then they abruptly stopped. The door opened and revealed an empty room.
More of them...?
The stranger slowly raised his weapon from the safety of his behind-the-door hiding place.

Rhyme was really getting freaked out now, seeing as though she heard thefootsteps and then the door and then.....nothing. As if this were all some sort of horror film she caught herself into by being asked to help.
"W-well.....Neku, we need to go in. I-if that thing that keeps hurting the pokemon is in here, w-we need to stop it." She was slowly keeping the panic under control as the fire pokemon pressed against her feet and whimpered. "C-come on....we should be a-alert and careful in c-case anything comes." The bell around her neck jingled slightly, but in the silence between the steps into the cabin from outside it was so loud in her ears that she placed both hands around it to quiet it.
She definitely was scared no matter how calm her voice was or how controlled she could make it.
