Swordsman Class Mission (No.3)
The Pact of a Warrior
So, this is it, you've reached the third Swordsman mission. It is this mission that separates the weak from the strong, and only those dubbed as strong shall move on to become a true warrior of power. The four masters of the various styles all have a similar test they put their students through. Not only to make sure they are ready, but to bestowed the power upon them they shall need in order to advance through their individual training. Now, all me to tell you a story.
Long ago, humans were once Pokemon, yes it does sound strange doesn't it? It is true though, all humans came from Pokemon. Anyways, after hundreds and thousands of years, humans evolved from the Pokemon that dominated the world we know. Though upon doing so, as we can see now, they lost the power and abilities their Pokemon ancestors once possessed. Some believe this to be a test from Arceus himself, to see if a creature far different from those he originally created, and himself, could survive. Though while humans are oddly bland compared to their distant cousins, Pokemon, there is a way to unlock their long lost hidden potential. Though Pokemon evolved into humans, there is still a bit of power within them, untouched. Legend tells of mystical gems that surface on rare occasions through out the world that links humans with a Pokemon ancestor of theirs with themselves. This spirit, should it and the human come within an agreement, shall bestow and teach it's processor how to use their hidden potential, along with their own. Think of it as a link with the very soul, an eternal bound that can never be broken. These gems are called, "The Four Gems of Norns", the gems correspond with the four main elements of the world, Fire, Wind, Water, and Earth. Each Pokemon type branches from these elements, Fire, Dragon, Dark, and Fighting from the blazing flames of Fire, Wind, Bug, Electric, and Poison from the gals of Wind, Water, Ice, Psychic, and Ghost from the brutal waves of Water, and last but not least, Ground, Rock, Steel, and Grass from the trembling Earth. Each human holds deep within them their own dormant type, and shall be linked with an ancestor of the same type.
The masters know very well of this legend and have themselves obtained a gem of their own to prove their power. Because of this they use the gems as a right of passage to the next class for their students. The tests they shall provide you with in order to advance, is to obtained a gem of your own. Apparently, the four gems have surfaced once again and the masters of preparing their students to go obtain them, before they disappear back into the Earth for who knows how long. There is one catch, these gems surface in deadly places and are normally guarded by powerful Pokemon that no human could even dream to take down. Good luck, you shall need it.
* Lord Gandalfr the Beserker
Objectives: ---Embark on your journey to find one of the Gems of Norns. ---Fight back the guardian of the gem without dying. ---Return to your master with the gem in order to pass the test.
Opposition: ---Any Pokemon or students that get in your way. ---The guardian of the gem.
Obtainable Pokemon: ---None, but you may get an egg for a good job.
Restrictions: ---You may only take one Pokemon, your most loyal and faithful Pokemon that you have been using.
Rewards: ---The gem you obtained, which shall transform your sword to the weapon of your choosing. ---??? ---The rest varies.

Eddie is on the couch, with a towel on his bare back, keeping the sweat from staining the couch. He just spent the last few hours swinging his sword, getting used to the weight and making more efficient swings, making them faster and stronger and giving them more control . "Man, that sword is great, but maybe, just maybe, I could use one that's bigger. More broad so it could protect my body from an oncoming attack, and longer in order to have more distance." he muses. "Speaking of sword, I think I should go back to Gandalfr for the next step in my training." he says.
Eddie stands up and hangs the towel over his back, and dresses himself, the flame retardant clothes he bought some time ago, after being almost killed by flames about ten times. "Maybe I should get some gloves." he says. "But not now, I have to look to see if the next step of training is ready." he says, then takes out his SNAG and starts going through it. "Ah, yes it is. Wait...I have to work with a group? Only 1 student passes?" he asks. "I guess that'll have to be me." He looks at his belt, then steps out of HQ and says. "I need a faster flying pokemon." Releasing his Skarmory, he hops on and they head for Stark Mountain.

Instead of landing in front of the mountain, Eddie decides to land on the side, in order for quicker access into the mountain, and not waste time going through the cramped cave. "Thanks, Skarmory." he says, then brings out a pokeball and returns it, then pockets the ball. He walks inside the med room, then through that and past the office. He goes down the small hallway that leads to the inside training part of the mountain, with all of the boulders. Gandalfr was standing in the middle of the room. "Hello lord Gandalfr." he greets.
Gandalfr turns around and stares at Eddie. "Good evening." he says. He looks very worn; bags under his eyes, the face seeming much more solemn now more than before.
Eddie ignores the signs of fatigue, for he knows that Gandalfr is no pushover, and can handle even fatigue with fighting spirit. "I'm here for the next step." he says.
"Ah yes, I imagine you would. You are always the go-getter when it comes to training or tasks." Gandalfr says. "Well, you're gonna have to wait until the other students get here before I explain what is going to happen." he adds.
Cue a tilt of a head from Eddie. "Wait, there are other students?" he asks. "I thought I was your only student." he says.
Gandalfr raises an eyebrow. "No, I have a few students. Six of them currently. All have learned Ire, and have taken down a Red Gyarados as you have in the past. They have been waiting patiently for this to finally happen. So, they should be coming soon." he says.

A single person emerges from the tunnel. A woman, dark brown hair down to her waist, fair skin, and wearing black jeans, red t-shirt, black tennis shoes, and a black, sleeveless vest. She has bright blue eyes, and has a face that would make men faint from its beauty. One her back is a claymore, a sword shorter, but more broad than Eddie's. She greets Gandalfr and stands next to Eddie.
"This is one of the students you may be working with. Her name is Amanda. She's a very good student, and an excellent combatant. She chose a Claymore as her weapon of choice" Gandalfr says. "And Amanda, this is Eddie. He is...a very energetic, and very strong student with great stamina. He chose a Zweihander for his weapon." he says.
Eddie turns to Amanda and extends his hand. "Nice to meet you Amanda." he says. Amanda takes his hand and shakes it, smiling. "Nice to meet you too, Eddie." she says. "I hope we can work well together." she says.

Eddie and Amanda stand next to each other, waiting for the other students to arrive, so Gandalfr can explain himself. The wait seems to go on forever, the silence unbearable, but broken occasionally by the cry of a pokemon. Eddie would occasionally open his mouth as to say something, but never does.
Finally, footsteps come from down the tunnel, and a man makes himself known. "I'm here!" he calls. His voice is deep and gruff. His figure matches his voice; he is on the short side, a brown goatee comes down from his short brown hair. He has red armor covering his body, and a very thick and broad sword on his back, but it is only as long as his four and a half foot body. "I'm ready for the next part of the test." he says. Even though he looks old, he's fairly young, only a bit older than Eddie.
Gandalfr raises his hand to Dolza and says. "This is Dolza. He is pure strength, but also short tempered, and-" "Who you calling short tempered?" Dolza interrupts. "If you couldn't kick my a** with your index finger, I would show you a thing or two." he scowls.
Eddie can already tell he's gonna get into a fight with this guy quite a lot.

Luckily, the next man comes out of the tunnel and waves to everyone. He has shoulder length blonde hair. He's wearing brown shoes, white pants, and a white shirt to complete the outfit, and piercing green eyes. "Hey." he says. "Anyone up for a sparring match while we wait for the other pupils?" he asks. He grabs the Zhanmadao off of his back. It's four and a half feet in length, the hilt taking up one foot of it. "I'd be happy to help time go by." he says.
Eddie looks at the new guy and walks over to him. "My name's Eddie, what's yours?" he asks, extending his hand.
The new guy takes Eddie's hand with his free hand and smiles. "My name is Arthur." he says. "So I'm assuming you want to take up my offer, yes?" he asks.
Eddie nods, then breaks the handshake and takes a few steps back before unsheathing his Zweihander, and holds it with one hand. "Let's see if you are as good as I." he says.

"You wield the Zweihander with great control, but can it beat the control of my Zhanmadao?" Arthur asks, wielding the sword with both hands.
Eddie makes a quick slash with both hands, and hits Arthur's sword, making a clang. Amazingly, the boy is able to keep Eddie's strength and the weight of the sword from crushing him. Eddie stretches his leg and trips the boy, tripping him. The sword comes down to Arthur, but is stopped when he grabs the blade with both feet and twists the blade around, flinging Eddie backwards. Arthur gets to his feet and faces Eddie.
"You're good, shrimp." Eddie says. He runs at Arthur and uses the Zweihander as a pole and vaults himself at the boy, and outstretches his leg, his foot hitting the top of the blade, keeping it from moving. Within that second, he also bring the Zweihander over his head and onto Arthur, bonking his head with the flat of the blade. Eddie is pushed off by the sword and does a backflip, landing on his feet. "Looks like we got another coming in." he says.
The next person to come in was a man, with jet black hair, in a ponytail halfway down his back. He sports a black dress shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes, and a black blazer over it, and all being pulled together by a black and white striped tie. He has a serious face, but smiles. "Hey there." he says. "My name's Erik." he says. "Nice to meet you all. On his back is a basic longsword.
Eddie nods and waves. "My name's Eddie." he says. "Nice to meet ya."
"I'm Arthur." Arthur says after Eddie.
Amanda smiles and says. "I'm Amanda, hope we can get along."
Dolza scowls, but never turns to face the new kid. "Th'name's Dolza."

Eddie looks at Arthur and thinks for a second. "Maybe we should go back to the first day of training. And cut some rocks." he suggests.
Arthur's face lights up at this aspect. "I would love to do this. How about a contest. We line up boulders and see who makes the biggest cut?" he asks.
Eddie nods, then looks at the others. "Okay, who wants to help line these up?" he asks.
Amanda and Erik both walk over to where Eddie is. "Sure." Amanda says. "I'm up for it." Erik responds.
All four walk over to a boulder and topple it, then they all put their hands under the large rock and lift it simultaneously, it being lifted in the air, and quickly taken over to another boulder and put upright. The four do that with four more rocks, lining up a good six boulders side to side, which would make a formidable challenge to get through all of them.
"Who's first?" Eddie asks.

Amanda steps up and holds her claymore with both hands. "I'll go first. I'll show you guys that a girl doesn't have to be weak." she says. she lines herself with the second to last boulder and holds the sword with both hands and swings it like a bat, making it through the first, and getting to the middle of the second. The boys give a round of applause and Amanda bows.
"My turn." Erik says, then brings himself and the longsword to where Amanda was standing. Different from Amanda, Erik holds his sword down below his side and makes a low cut, that goes through two rocks easily, but is stopped by the outer layer of the third. "Aww man." he says. He gets a round of applause from everyone despite being disappointed in himself.
"Can I go?" Arthur asks, but lets himself up with his Zhanmadao and goes from the other side, and makes a big swing from the left, and cuts through about the same amount of rock as Amanda. He shrugs and walks back over to the others, all giving a round of applause. "Strength isn't everything." he says.
"Watch and learn." Eddie says, then pushes the top part of the two sliced boulders out of the way with his foot, each making a thump on the ground. "Okay." he says, then grabs his Zweihander with both hands and puts his back to the rocks. "Here we go!" he yells, then does a violent spin, and using centripetal force, with the mass of the sword and his own strength, he cuts through three of the remaining boulders, before his sword is finally stopped by the last one. "Not bad." he says.
Big round of applause for Eddie.

After Eddie, Dolza stands up and walks over to the boulders and holds his broadsword with both hands. He brings the sword back and slices through all four rocks, exiting the last one with a flurry of rocks exiting with it. His strength was to be admired, but was misinterpreted by his small size. All of the other students stand there with mouths gaping open.
Not one to seem fun Dolza sheathes his sword and walks back over to Gandalfr.
Finally, the last student comes into the room. A redhead woman, wearing tight blue jeans, a tight black shirt, which showed off her big bust. On her feet she wore black sneakers, and showed a mole above her red lips. Her eyes are Hazel, and are complimented by her large eyelashes. Her sword of choice was a smaller Zweihander; 5 feet and maybe seven pounds. "Hi, are you guys the other students?" she asks. It's a wonder she got here alive, let alone passed the training before this. "My name's Nicole." she says.

All of the pupils line up side by side in front of Gandalfr, and bow to show respect to him. "Now, you are all probably wondering why all of my students have to be here for this part of the training?" he asks.
The students look to each other, some exchanging nods, then look back at the man who was talking, all pupils staying silent.
"The Tyr's Ruby, which is a rare gem, and allows you to get in touch with your inner element, has surfaced, after many a year." Gandalfr explains. "It surfaced in Mt. Ember, the home of Moltres. Now, Moltres won't give up this precious gem so easily, and you guys, my students, will try to get this gem from the legendary bird, not being killed in the process, and allow yourself to be blessed with the power of this gem. This is not an easy task. In fact, it could turn out deadly; there are wild pokemon that are more powerful than you can imagine, you'll be pushed to your limits to get the reward." he says.
Gandalfr continues. "Now, the gem can only be possessed by one person and give its blessing to that one person. Now, who will it be? I don't know, that's what you have to figure out. I'll split you up into teams to ensure safety, but not have a big mob in order to conserve the difficulty aspect of it." he explains. "Nicole, Eddie, and Dolza, you are team 1. Arthur, Erik, and Amanda, you are team 2. We'll depart for Mount Ember immediately, follow me." he says.

All of the pupils and the master arrive at the top of Stark Mountain. The students look around, wondering what is going on. That question is answered when Gandalfr takes a flute out of his pocket and plays a tune loudly, and it is a beautiful tune. When he finishes, there is complete silence, but not for long. The air is cut in half when two Salamence, with scars all over, wings beaten, and ears bitten, show up, towing a large cart, made to seat many people. "Get in." he says.
Eddie walks up to the cart and lets the ladies into the cart first, then goes on himself, followed by Dolza, then Arthur and lastly Erik.
"To Mount Ember." Gandalfr commands. The Salamence just shoot off into the sky at amazing speeds, dragging the cart as if it were nothing. This beats Skarmory by a long shot.

In a short period of time, the crew lands at the base of Mount Ember, and exit the Salamence driven cart. By this time, it is pitch black out, and the lava in the volcano of the mountain makes a sinister red glow above the opening. "Okay, get in your respective groups." Gandalfr says.
The pupils separate from each other and form back into the groups that they were told to be in earlier.
"Trust your partners, as they will need to trust you. Your life rests in their hands, and their lives rest in yours." Gandalfr says. "The pokemon on this mountain will be strong, and they won't let you up the mountain without a fight, so be ready for pain and killing." he says. "Now, should we scale now, or rest for the night and start in the morning?" he asks.
"All for scaling now?" he asks. Eddie and Dolza raise their hands.
"All for taking a rest for the night?" he asks. Amanda, Nicole, Arthur and Erik raise their hands. "Sorry, but we're gonna take a break for tonight.
Dolza and Eddie sigh.

After the vote, the different teams set up tents for their own teamates. After the tents are set up, all of Team 2 goes into their tents and light a lantern in order to get things in order. Team 1 on the other hand. Dolza refuses to go inside of the tent and lies down in a sleeping bag brought on his own accord. Eddie and Nicole walk into the tent and light their own lantern, getting for the night of sleep. Eddie grabs a blanket provided by Gandalfr and lays it down on the floor in order to lay on. He turns to Nicole, who is squirming under her covers and blinks. "There a problem?" he asks.
"Oh, I forgot my favorite teddy, I don't think I'll be able to sleep without him." Nicole says. "It's not so much the teddy as more of something to hold while I go to sleep." she adds.
Eddie notes a small pile of her folded up clothes and grabs his blanket and walks over to her. "I could be your replacement teddy for tonight." he says hopefully, a sincere smile on his face. "Because I need something to hug to go to sleep as well." he admits, actually lying.
Nicole rolls over and looks at Eddie for a few seconds, then smiles. "Well..." she pauses, then sits up and puts her finger to her lip in thought. "okay." she agrees. The blanket is held up by body, but shows that her arms and shoulders are bare. The clothes are the ones that she was wearing before.
Eddie blows out the lantern and lays down in next to herr, lifting her blanket over him, then his blanket over the two of them. She's on her back, and seems to be waiting. "You sleep on your back?" he asks.
Nicole nods in the blackness. "Yep." she says.
Eddie smiles and shuffles over her and lays his face into her chest, and she hugs him and closes her eyes, and Eddie does the same. Where Eddie has his head, it's gonna be the comfiest pillows he's gonna be sleeping on for a while.
"Night." Eddie says.
"Night." Nicole responds.
The whole area falls silent, except for the occasional chirp of a Kriketot or Kriketune breaking the silence.

The next morning comes; the tents are down and put away, all of the members fully clothed and waiting at the base of Mt. Ember. The two teams are split from each other, but stare at Gandalfr, waiting for instructions. "Today, you start the climb up Mount Ember, the most dangerous thing you've done in your life. The two teams will go up the mountain from separate paths. You may only take your most trusted pokemon with you, and you may not fly to the top. You have to go through the caves on foot." he says. "Now, get ready..."
The two teams line up in front of different entrances of caves.
"Go!"
