After I beat the League in Platinum, I went to Pastoria and went behind the Coragunk board for who knows why. All of a sudden, I see a Croagunk! It then runs into the Great Marsh.
Any info on this? Did it happen to you?
I don't know if you need the National Dex, however.

I encountered that my rival ran out from behind that thing right before the explosion
not sure about what happened to you. i just finished so i can check. still need my Nat dex
