Swordsman Class Mission

The Way of Sword

So you wish to master the art of weilding a sword? A very dangerous and beautiful art is it indeed. Only few actually master the sword, while many die by it. Many weild a sword, all for different reasons, some to protect their home and loved ones, others for purely evil purposes and destruction, which path you take is up to you and you alone. Be as it all may though, it is time for you to embark on your quest to master the way of the sword, and earn the title of Swordsman. Let use now begin with your journey.

You are probably excited about mastering the way of the sword and want to jump in head first, but you must start out small, baby steps. The first step on your path to learning the ways of the sword, is to find yourself a master, someone who can teach you the basics of the sword. Luckily for you there are several Master Swordsmen out there, all with their own special styles, that gladly take in new pupils. I will now tell you about each of them and what they specialize in.

Sir Gavan the Honorable: Sir Gavan is a mighty knight, Gallade capable of human-speech actually, funny huh? Dressed in a armor and weilding a sword and shield, as do his students. Sir Gaven specializes in medieval combat, meaning arming sword and buckler combat. He teaches his students a balanced style of attacking and defending, though their method may seem slower compared to others. This man is very honorable and teaches morales to his students among swordsmenship. His school, or castle rather, is located deep within the Lunar Range, the mountain range North of Kanto. (Swords of Specialty: Single-handed swords, such as Gladius, and Spatha)

Master Tatsuya the Swift: Master Tatsuya, another hybrid swordsman, a Scyther hybrid actually. Reowned for his swift style of combat. He is feared by his foes due to his speed and skill with a sword. He dresses in very light clothing and weilds a slim light sword. Due to his speed style of combat he, just like his students, does not carry a shield nor armor. He teaches his students a speedy style of combat, focusing on attacking your foe and taking them out as quick as possible to avoid being hit. His asian-style school is tucked away deep within the Vein Forest of Almia region. (Swords of Specialty: Light Single-handed swords, such as Wakizashi, and Katana)

Lord Gandalfr the Beserker: Lord Gandalfr, a truly fierce man. This man goes by many nicknames, each describing how gruesome and cruel he is in battle. Dressed in a coat of Mightyena skin and carrying a massive Greatsword, this man's pure strength is surpassed by none of the other teachers. His style of swordsmanship, which he teaches to his students, is based purely on attacking and utterly destroying your opponent at all costs, because of this the only thing of importance is your sword, a very big and powerful one at that. His savage school is located within the winding caverns of Stark Mountain. (Swords of Specialty: Massive Two-Handed swords, such as Claymore, and Longsword)

Lady Clemence the Stalwart: Lady Clemence, an elegant woman of very high standing and upbringing. She is none for the elegant flow of her defensive and parrying style of swordsmenship, not unlike that of fencing. Sporting light and flexible armor and weilding a light Rapier, Lady Clemence deflects and guards all attacks thrown at her, few have lain their sword upon her. Her style, which is passed onto her students is purely defensive, deflecting all blows as you wait for the perfect moment to strike down your foe. Her beautiful academy is located within the high class part of Crimson City, of the Prism region. (Swords of Specialty: Light Single-handed swords, such as Estoc and Messer)

Once you have chosen the master you wish to learn from, seek out their location and ask them if you may train under them as their pupil. They may require you to perform some sort of task before they take you under their wing, what those tasks may be I'm not sure. If and when they do decide to teach you their way of the sword, you must stay there at the school and go through their basic training course. You will learn the very basics of their style of swordsmenship. Once they feel you have covered and mastered the basics of whatever style they teach, your teacher will allow you to take a sword from their stock and call it your own. Though the sword must be of their style. Also, the teachers are well-known for having their student study alongside their most faithful Pokemon. Trainer and Pokemon must both work together to accomplish their tasks. So choose your most faithful Pokemon, only that one is allowed with her on this mission. Once you have passed the basic course, report back to HQ with your new blade as proof.

Objectives:
---Seek out the master Swordsman you wish to learn from.
---Convince the master of your choosing to take you in as their pupil.
---Complete their basic course and return with your new sword as proof.

Opposition:
---Any Pokemon you may come across on your journey to the master's school.
---Any Pokemon or person your master may ask of you to face. Not themselves.

Obtainable Pokemon:
---None

Reward:
---Class title of "Swordsman".
---The rest varies

Participants: Lykas

Lykas sat out side of Snagem Hq and read over the paper in his hands for the umpteenth time. "Ok...Crimson City..." he started as he finished reading. "Or maybe I should go to the Lunar Range and find that Gallade..." he added as a second thought.

"I won't get anywhere if I don't pick one..." he reprimanded himself. "I know I want be a defensive fighter and that Lady Clemence is supposed to be all about defense so...I pick her." he said as he looked up at the afternoon sky.

Looking through his Pokemon, Lykas found that he had only Mykel for transport. "Well...I guess Mykel can do the training with me..." he told himself. "I mean, his species can learn a lot of defensive moves..." he added, trying to convince himself that he wouldn't get the Ralts injured.

Calling out the small Psychic type, he nodded to the Pokemon. "Can you Teleport us to Crimson City?" he asked. The Ralts nodded and in a flash of blue, they were gone.

Arriving in the cobbled streets of Crimson, Lykas glanced around. "Her school is supposed to be in the 'high class' part of the city..." he remarked to Mykel, who was levitating next to him. "But this whole city looks high class to me..." he added as he started to walk. He looked around at the many expensive looking buildings and businesses, with the rich people's houses skirting the edges of the city. At least, that's what he thought of the place.

Passing a large, brick manor, Lykas stopped to look around, setting his hand to rest against the rough material. "There wasn't a description of the place to be found..." he said as he took a long hard look around his current settings. He could only assume that he'd need to look for some place big enough to be a school of swordsmanship. That wouldn't be too hard normally, except that every place here was giant sized in his opinion. Any one of them could have been the right place as far as he knew.

As the boy moved through the cobbled streets, feeling the rounded stones beneath his feet, he heard something. A telltale sign that he must be getting close. He could hear the clanging of steel against steel and a man with a thick English accent speaking. "How am I expected to strike you when you won't stop blocking my blade!?" he griped as he swung again.

Lykas followed the sounds, catching snippets of remarks thrown back and forth between the clangs. Besides the English man, there was a woman. Her accent was hard to place, but from the way she spoke, all he could tell was she couldn't seem to use an 'R' to save her life.

Clang..."Stop Moving!"...clang..."Sving Hahdeh Dahling."...clang..."Youh svings must be phecise and svift."...clang..."Ahh!"...

The last shout had been the man as his sword was knocked from his hand, sending him toppling backwards and onto his butt. Lykas rounded the corner just in time to see him with his hands in the air, signaling his obvious defeat. A very well bred woman was standing over him, a rapier tip held to his nose. "Exzellent vuhk dahling. Thy again vhen you have eahned moh conthol ovah youh swohd." the woman told the man as she moved her blade from his face.

"Yes, Lady Clemence." the man replied humbly as he scrambled over to his own sword and stood up. The two turned away from one another, face toward Lykas. Or at least, he though they'd turned towards him.

When the two bowed, he looked around, confused. He finally noticed the audience that was sitting there. This must be some form of entertainment to these folks.

As the woman, with her rapier replaced in it's scabbard, walked forward a spoke to the audience, something clicked in Lykas' mind. "That man called her..." he started, not needing to finish the thought vocally. He ran forward and joined the crowd around the 'stage' area. Raising his hand to get the woman's attention, he noticed Mykel had returned to his shoulder. He must have done it to keep up with the boy.

Lady Clemence noticed Lykas standing amongst the crowd and spoke to him. "You have a question?" she asked him politely.

"Yes ma'am. I was wondering if you'd train me, Lady Clemence." he asked, stepping forward so that the woman could see his small form more easily. His eyes were narrow and determined. He refused to accept no for an answer.

"I apologize, young man, but I am not taking students at the moment." Lady Clemence replied. "My school is full and my students ah all leahning evehy thing I have to teach them." she explained.

"And what if I don't care if your school's full?" Lykas asked, climbing onto the stage. "What if I want to learn under you no matter what you say?" he asked the woman, narrowing his eyes more so glare at her.

The woman could see the boy was giving her a calculating look. He was trying to read what she was planning to do before she did it. "I vill still not teach you." she replied simply. "You may crawl on youh hands and knees and beg me to thain you, but I shall not." she replied simply.

"Then let me say one more thing." he replied. "You're a hemophiliac as well, aren't you." he said confidently. He could see it now. He had read the signs in her body, she had the same ones he did.

Lady Clemence glared at the blue haired boy. "Vhat do you mean, 'too'?" she asked, her own eyes narrowed to coldly glaring slits.

"You and I share the trait of being unable to be cut." Lykas replied as he walked toward her. "I can see it. Your body is pale and un-nurtured by sunlight due to a childhood of being sheltered by the ones who raised you. You keep every inch of your skin covered if possible, to protect yourself from being cut." he told her firmly. "And...You look afraid." he told her, knowing the look all too well. He had that same look all the time, as if he feared for his life for no reason.

"You lie." Lady Clemence countered. "You could know no such thing unless you knew me my entihe life." she remarked.

"And what if I do?" Lykas retorted. "What if I know about everything you've ever done?" he asked. Blackmail wasn't exactly fair, but he wasn't trying to make her train him yet, just get her to listen to his reason for wanting her to train him.

Lady Clemence considered that for a brief moment and finally, her face contorting into one of defeat, much to her dismay, she waved to the boy. "Fine. Come along. And huhhy." she told him softly.

Lykas sighed and followed the woman through the streets.

"Vhat do you know of my past?" she asked him, her voice cold. This boy could undo everything she'd worked for since her childhood.

Lykas considering continuing the lie, but decided against it. Lying would get him nothing. "Absolutely nothing at all." he replied. "I was bluffing." he admitted with a sigh.

"Bluffing?" Lady Clemence asked, certain that this must be the true bluff.

"That's right." Lykas confirmed. "I wanted to get you to listen to me." he told her. "And I figured the only way you would was if I convinced you I knew something you didn't want people to know. I had no way of knowing if such a thing even existed." he explained quickly.

"Then Vhy, in all the vohld, vould you come to me to thain you?" the Lady asked, now curious as to the boy's motives.

"Because I wasn't lying when I said I'm hemophiliac. I can't be cut or I could bleed to death in minutes from a even a small nick." he explained, speeding up a bit to keep up with her foot speed. "And I heard that you were the best in the world at defensive swordplay." he told her, hoping that a bit of flattery might convince her.

"Ah, you do have the Royal Disease..." she said, an 'R' being fully present for the first time in her speech. "Then you know that I have never once been cut in battle." she requested.

"Yes." Lykas replied.

"Exzellent!" Lady Celemence replied, turning on her heel. "You ah accepted. I vill consider thaining you only if you can pass a simple test." she told him. "Go to the Crimson Stadium, find within it's halls the Èpèe-Prisme. A chystalline Foil that shines vith the seven colohs of the hainbow." she told the boy. "Vhen you have found it, you vill be able to find me again." she said and turned to walk away.

Lykas went to stop her and found that she had disappeared around the corner and vanished from sight already.

"Great..." Lykas groaned as he turned to look around. "Oh. Goody." he remarked when he saw where he was. That woman had lead him all the way to the other side of the city. "Ok, so I have to go find that...Èpèe-Prisme thing...and then I'm just supposed to...know where she is?" he asked Mykel, who'd been sitting on his shoulder the whole time.

The Ralts shrugged as Lykas began the long walk back towards the stadium. Neither felt like trying to Teleport to the place, just in case that was against any rules that Lady Clemence might have for this test.

Lykas failed to notice the figure following him through the shadows. Someone knew what he was after. They wanted to get it first.

Lykas found himself lost among the crowds of Crimson. "Ugh...I have no idea where I even am!" he complained to Mykel, who looked around for a moment.

The small Ralts might not have been very talented at it just yet, but he managed to pick out a few thoughts relating to the stadium. "Go talk to that guy...right there!" he finally said, pointing to a boy about Lykas' age, flitting through the masses. "Hurry and catch him, he knows how to get to the stadium." the Ralts urged, using Psychic to force Lykas to start moving.

"Ah! I'm going. I'm going!" Lykas cried as he ran after the kid, hoping to catch him before he got too far away to keep up with.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2009 3:50 pm

Lykas chased after the kids for what seemed like hours. He almost lost sight of him on numerous occasions, but each time he managed to round the corner just in time to see the boy flit around another. "Where the heck is this kid going?" he asked Mykel.

"I don't know. He's moving too fast to keep his subconscious and conscious thoughts separate." Mykel replied quietly, almost embarrassed to have to admit it.

"But I thought subconscious thoughts were the ones that you didn't know were there?" Lykas asked as he ran.

"Normally yes, but when one is rushed, or moving in a rapid and frantic manner, like this kid, the subconscious thoughts become intermingled with the conscious thoughts." Mykel explained as simply as possible.

"Oh..." Lykas replied, rounding a corner and coming to a dead stop. "Dang! He got away!" he complained as he looked around. Mykel smacking him in the side of the head got his attention. "What is it My...kel..." he said, finishing with an I-feel-stupid look as he finally noticed the enormous dome shaped building not far away. "I'm guessing that's the Crimson Stadium." he said as he started walking towards the place.

Lykas headed into the Crimson Stadium, finding that the place was open, surprisingly enough. He had assumed it would be closed unless there was a tournament going on or something along those lines. Apparently the place was open to the public for various random thing, most notably for usage of their stadium for commonplace battles.

Walking through the mostly empty halls he passed only a few other people. He noticed that the majority of these people seemed to be the staff. "I'd ask if they knew where that Èpèe-Prisme was...I'm afraid they'd assume I was trying to steal it or something." he admitted to Mykel. "Think you could find it?" he asked, expecting a no, but hoping for the best anyway.

Mykel gave the boy a, incredulous look. "That's like asking a Sandshrew to find a particular pebble in a quarry." he replied simply. Lykas would get the point unless he was completely dense.

"I figured as much." he admitted as he looked around. "Then let's take a long hard look around and see if we can find it." he said as he started to actually look hard. "Lady Clemence said it was a 'chys-crystalline foil that shines with the seven colors of the rainbow'." he quoted to Mykel as the Ralts jumped down and started to levitate up to the higher places the sword might have been stored.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 07, 2009 8:23 pm

"Find anything yet?" Lykas asked as he pulled the contents from a box in the fifth room he'd looked in. Mykel offered him only a shake of his head. "Didn't think so." the boy replied as he stood up. He stretched out his back and yawned, thoroughly bored by this game of search-and-find-nothing.

"Gimme a hand." he requested of Mykel as he began to put away the things he'd pulled out, not wanting anyone after him for screwing the place up. As he picked up a pocket mirror, which had been in the pocket of a jacket, he noticed something reflected in it. "I don't believe it!" he cried as he turned to look at what he'd seen.

"Mykel! I know where to find the sword!" he called to the Ralts, who had just finished flinging the remaining items back into their box with Psychic. Mykel cocked his head to the side, choosing not to voice the question. "There." Lykas said simply, pointing toward the stadium arena.

Lykas walked out into the arena and looked up. In the fading light of the twilight hours, he could see a ribbon of rainbow colored light shooting across the stadium. "That could only be there under one of two conditions..." he told Mykel, pointing to the light. "Either it's rained not long ago and we just missed the storm, or there's something in...that direction, " he said as he paused long enough to locate the direction the strongest source of light was coming from. "Acting like a prism and dividing the sunlight into that." he finished.

Mykel nodded, understanding what his trainer was getting at. "Let's go look then. I don't see any water on the ground, or dripping from any structures, so it's most likely a prism somewhere." the Ralts replied as he offered a second, closer inspection than his sweeping first glance, to the arena.

"Exactly." Lykas replied as he ran towards the sunlight, watching the rainbow ribbon above him. He managed to get all the way across the stadium and found that the light was quickly fading. "Dang!" he cried as he reached the arena wall. "It's coming from up there..." he told Mykel, who nodded and used Psychic to lift them both to the top of the wall. "Hurry! If the sun goes down, we'll never find it before this place closes." Mykel urged.

"I'm hurrying as fast as I can go." Lykas replied as he clambered over seats towards the announcers box. The closer he got, the brighter it seemed the rainbow glow was getting. As he finally reached the box, he tore the door open as quickly as the hinges would allow and rushed inside. "I. Do. Not. Believe. It." he said as he shook his head. Stabbed into the counter top was a silver sword that seemed to shimmer with the colors of the rainbow as he drew closer to it. It had a microphone affixed to the end of the handle.

"These idiots were using it as a Microphone stand?" the boys asked the empty air, incredulous. Looking out the glass window as he removed the mic and pulled the sword from it's place. He could see the scoreboard across the arena was reflecting the sunlight back into the announcer's box. Holding up the Èpèe-Prisme, he was pleasantly surprised to see that even the faint, reflected light bounced off the shimmering blade and created the rainbow aura.

As he descended the stairs a few minutes later, he found himself suddenly drowsy beyond belief. All the adrenaline running through him as he had searched for the sword had leeched his energy. "Ugh...." was the only thing that escaped his mouth as his eyes closed and he collapsed. Thankfully, Mykel used Psychic to keep him from injuring himself and gently lowered him to the ground.

A shadow appeared over the both of them and before Mykel knew what had happened, his world was dark.
