- Sometimes we’d camp out back on your trampoline under the stars with only each other and the whispering of the trees as company. The only thing I could see besides our hands reaching out, trying to touch the stars that flirted with us night after night, was your ice cold breath just brushing past the edge of the blanket. We were trying to reach out and pluck all of the lives we were not living from the sky and make them our own. We were always outside trying to find different ways to live, different parts to play in this little scheme of life and we were always just on the edge of becoming someone else. You looked to me for guidance but eventually you realized that I could only get you so far, only to the tips of my fingers, and that wasn’t far enough. My arms weren’t long enough to catch a shooting star right by it’s tail so you could make that wish to be someone else that neither you nor I knew how to create alone.
