Candy-Coated Doxy
Blanketed with confusion
Let the warmth soothe you
Feelings connecting
With the sad, abused view
Don’t groom old feathers
With hopes of a restart at life
Shed those wings, pretty baby
Begin anew, take flight
Freefalling, no training wheels
That lay amongst the morning grass
Float asunder, away from harms slumber
Taken from home, no magic time-turner
Whispers lightly carry in the wind
Hoping to finally deliver a message and send,
Someday, a letter – rendered and old
Surrounded by money, diamonds and gold.
From this perspective down low
I’m stifled by the subliminally sweet –
Castle walls, tortured and defined
Lit up by the sun, doused with light
I’ll cut out my eyes, sockets now bare
These teeth still sting, affecting me here
In my secret place, hidden to survive
Patch-quilt woven, my own demise
So I’ll leave you pondering on where I’ve gone
Not for the game, for I’ve already won
I’ve lost my sense, direction obsolete
I’m blind to my cause, now I can’t see
Commiserating hurts, we are not alone;
This nightmare – I’ve sold, truth foregone
Joined together, by concrete and sand
Shoulder’s weighted by heavy hands
Contraband we’re selling, hidden in plain sight
Strong grip; firm shoulder – we’ll get through the night
So don’t you ease your smile, you’ll leave my heart aching
Snarls spinning wildly, feet forever traipsing
