Everyday I run until my legs give out, and I collapse to the ground.
Yet from my distance, I can still see your escence and can still feel your sound.
As the days go by your presence dissolves, and my life escapes the past.
But unlike fairy tales, the conflict never resolves. The pain just lasts and lasts.
I struggle and strife, I resist and fight, to rise again from my ashes once more
but then, now, and for the rest of my life, you take me away like an abductor.
I'm on my knees begging , you hover over me, my tear-streaked face is grey.
You stare down at me with a menacing grin, cold eyes, and a soul far far away.
"Please let me be! I'll do anything." I offer. What else is a prisoner to do?
The only monster who won't take anything but me, is of course, no one but you
My body collapses under your chains of tyranny, why you do it, you never say.
Although I hope for my freedom, I can still feel all of me withering away.
At times I wish that you would disperse, give me time to get my light back.
But that kind of mercy has a price to pay. You'll return with a greater attack.
It's cat and mouse, the constant struggle, the circle of capture never ends.
I can never fall completely, so you will still hurt me. What doesn't break, bends

- Title: What's a Prisoner to Do?
- Artist: vanessaw14
- Description: "Something always brings me back to you. It never takes too long." -gravity sara bareilles. I heard that line and it really stuck with me. The song is referring to a guy (i think) but i think of it more about addiction, or not being able to escape the past or something similiar to that.

- well its not really a cat and mouse kind of thing. its basically just like, not being able to run away from your past or from someone or something that keeps bothering you. Maybe like a painful memory even

- Very nice start. I almost feel as if this would be a great characterization story with plenty of voice. It would truly be a story of "cat & mouse" then. Other than that, keep up the good work.
