Hiding from You
A mechanical bird can flap its wings as hard as it can
And jump into the air as high as its legs allow,
But even then it cannot fly freely into the sky
And soar carelessly into the clouds.
A wolf in sheep’s clothing can be as quiet as a mouse
And graze acres of fresh green grass.
But its ravenous and murderous intent
Will be as obvious to all as its long bushy tail.
A raven black crow can sing as much as it wants
And gloat to the world about his harmonious melody,
But it cannot change its rough raspy voice
And its pitiful braggart nature.
A flower can be beautiful and radiant
And seem to stand on its own.
But it does not change the fact that it is both being used by
And relying on the plant from which it was born and tended.
And just like the soulless bird and counterfeit sheep,
The narcissist crow, and desperate flower,
Humans try to cover their flaws and mistakes
With lies and self-deceit.
But even the layers of lies and barriers of dishonesty
Cannot cover up what you shamefully try to hide from the world.
So break the lock
To the cage of your own fabrication
And live.

- I really like this. But I'm not so clear on the stanza about the flower :/ I feel like the other stanzas all have very similar meanings, but what is the flower trying to cover up?
