The oil sputters, spits, and spirals off the frying pan.
It performs a fuming dance on the fiery path to freedom.
The drop would’ve broke away from the buttons of oil,
But a mound of potatoes barred the way to liberation.
The poor marshmallows are heard saying their prayers
Before they are burnt up as a sacrifice to the humans.
The marshmallows are cherubs in ecstasy
As they smolder in the blazing heat.
A lady in an apron
Towers over the big kitchen oven,
Taking out a freshly baked cake
Out of the scorching space.
She grasps the brother and sister frosting,
While they gasped pitifully.
But the end came eventually,
And the siblings were constricted.
One little kernel of corn, shrieking.
Two carrots are sliced into shreds, screeching.
Three banana peels are flung in the trash, wailing.
What is the world we live in?

- Description: This is something I wrote for a teacher of mine, since I had an English assignment. It is a true poem, but it's written from the food's point of view, making it seem like a cruel world. Please comment on how I could make it better. I hope you guys like it.
