My mother listened to God and she heard,
With ears intent on knowing what he said,
A name entangled deep within his word --
The name that I took on when I was bred.
And yet they would have rather called me trash
Because I am the color of the earth?
The rich and nourishing brown that I am
I have been since my February birth,
But those who call me names know not my worth.
Then, I will let them do just as they have
and continue in all their ignorance
For I know that I am only me, me.
So, do me a favor: keep your two cents.
