    The new world we came into
    to be destined for each other
    the house they brought me to was
    so odd and new
    but I was still a puppy and you were
    a baby
    the smells were new and the noises
    were not normal, talking ,laughing and crying

    you wanted attention and I wanted to
    help
    as I got older I watched you
    the should of your cries alerted me
    and I would try to be near you
    sitting in front of that baby swing playing
    with your feet till I wound up biting
    you. I'm sorry and I know it hurt from the cry that rang
    from you

    here we are I'm old and you are
    still young, in the teenage stage of
    your life unaware that I'll be leaving
    you soon
    but that old guard dog would give
    anything to see you safe
    the words you said when you hit
    the floor, the laughter that filled the
    empty air around us,. the feel of your
    touch on my head
    my teenage master about to be
    thrown into a depression because its
    almost time for me to leave

    my time is up now my friend and
    I know the pain that will instill in your
    heart
    mine aches as well, I don't want to
    leave but I'll be watching you and
    please dont morn over me for long
    I know the stop you planned for
    this old guard dog will be perfect
