One day I had a date, you see
A meeting between God and me
Invited, excited to even be
in that place and time to even see
Yes, that place and space that exists between
My date today--God and me.
I chose the place in which to meet
A shore not far from home, you see
My home where I roamed and waited to be
in that place with my date, just God and me.
He chose the time, I happily complied
I acquiesced and dressed to draw his eye
In those eyes I could see creativity
Those eyes that could See only God and me.
We chatted near jagged rocks near sea
He let me talk most, mostly about me--
My passions, dislikes, and history--
The perfect date if you asked me.
He listened and shifted quietly
So as not to interrupt my fond rambling
Fond rambling, found he quite interesting
A caught eye! thought I about God and me
We strolled past rows of shells and trees
Along the shore, tired of rambling
I wanted to know more my date, you see,
A bit more. Did I bore him endlessly?
I asked him about then his past simply
About his interests, hopes, and history
To explore that place in that space between
That space made between God and me.
He beguiled my childlike quizitry
With motions mild and plaintive pondering
That moment then felt like eternity
As placid waters and skies rolled restlessly
A restless motion, an undulation
Did I exasperate him with my adulation?
My lips parted in search of exoneration
When he looked with those Eyes, eyes of creation
Those eyes in which I could see
The truth that laid between God and me.
I knew then, he didn't need to speak,
Just what it was he thought of me.
Of me, my life, and humanity
All existing in that place in the space between.
As sun set, I admit unabashedly,
I looked away from those eyes of creativity
Overwhelmed and wrought so helplessly
In that space against time, for God and me.
I looked back once more, I had to be...
But all that was was shore and sea
Had he gone? I was wrong for I felt within me
His touch like an indelible reverie
A touch as such I took home with me
After that day in that place just for God and me.
- Title: God and me
- Artist: Gjornia X
- Description: I go through subject phases in my poetry. Currently I'm exploring the character of and my relationship to the eternal. Here's one poem of many, that I've written on it. This one is atypical of my style because it involves me directly. Ironically I try to not place myself in my poetry so more people can relate to it. I hope anyone out there still can.
