My feet depend so much
on the ground to walk.
The prickly spikes of
gravel underfoot.
The texture of the individual
grains beneath my feet
some smooth
some sharp.
From foot step to foot step
from gravel to grass
the path has changed
from rough to soft.
It has come from the soul
the feathery feeling of life.
Into life, I come to be
what I am with the ground
beneath me.
