The silence of the night
Comforts me like a mother, long departed
Helps me battle solitude’s bitter bite
The hold of darkness, only just started
Night’s sweet lullaby
Sends me to a blissful never-ending sleep
Careful to keep me there till I die
Its tangled webs hold me down deep
It wraps around me, my defenses long gone
My mind opens up to the only peace I’ve ever embraced
Once, time long
Ago; when my heart wasn’t locked in this unyielding space
Pain was an unknown entity
Remote and far away
But how soon the time came, for it to flood into me
Nothing no one could say
Would ever ease this wound away
So far from the light of the day
Night was all I knew
Nothing but the harsh dark blue
The cold slips into me
Numbing the pain
My soul filled with empty glee
Knowing the cost was worth the gain.

- Title: Night's Lullaby
- Artist: [tears]of[blood]
- Description: I wrote this poem about the death of my mom. Even though it was almost 5 years ago, I still get hit with the huge loss of her. This poem helped me push through one of those times, I hope you enjoy it.
