Moon
Light shimmers across hidden hunters,
Snarls and pearled fangs gleam in darkness.
Hunt as one, feed as one, live as one.
We are the lords of our territory, and I am king.
Alpha, and second to none, power to the brim
And greatness radiating constantly.
My strength is compared to none
I have no equal.
I desire only what I have been taught,
Only what a wolf needs.
I yearn for life
To lead and be followed, nothing more.
Only one can compare to me,
The thing we call pale light.
The orb that rises when the sky light has fallen
Like a second alpha to the day.
It shines bright, but dark
As if afraid to challenge the stronger.
Yet unafraid to reveal it’s form.
pale beams cover me, turning me to stone.
I can not move, frozen to my place like ice.
The light pinning down my form
As I gaze in wonder,
My fur stiff like needles.
Is there one like this in my pack?
Will my beta plot like this pale light
And shine behind my back?
None will take my place.
I say, but I still can not move.
My heart might collapse with doubt and grief.
Who would dare challenge me?
I would slaughter without mercy.
I howl.
I show my power and I can move
No strength is greater than mine, I am the Alpha.
