    But each day brings another chance
    To limber up and start to dance
    Faster and faster the rhythm beats
    As my footsteps pound the streets

    With each slap and cut each forceful blow
    My strength and agility continue to grow
    So perhaps there is hope within the pain
    Or else all this time I've nothing gained

    I watched my father burn the fire
    Without control he fueled it higher
    Until one day the flame went out
    And now I understand what it's all about

    Our time here is short at best
    Every day our self worth put to the test
    Perhaps happiness is a lost illusion
    Dieing away in the midst of confusion
