I truly think
that our love will change the world.
I believe in it
in the same way
that I never believed
in Santa Claus
and the tooth fairy
(and secretly, I always desperately wished to be wrong.)
I know sometimes
I act as though I doubt it
I forget, for a few weeks
or months
that it exists.
And then all it takes is one
solitary fragment
the smell of cinnamon rolls baking, for instance--
or the touch of red velvet as I trail my fingers across the stacked bolts of fabric at Hancock's--
or the blonde ponytail of a driver in the car next to me
as I pause at a red light--
to bring it all rushing back
in a heady, wild, crashing thunder.

- Title: A Heady, Crashing Thunder
- Artist: Rynn Calais
- Description: A little bit of a love poem, it seems. This is far more romantic than I usually get, these days. Call me an old codger.

- Good, especially the last bit. I do think it could be better, but I honestly can't put my finger on how. It's somewhere in that middle forgetting bit...
