The Truth
The girl I see every day, sitting alone
When did I fall in love with her?
She, the kind one who sees only the good in people
Who never doubts anyone, never lies, never steals
When did I start loving her?
Her sweetness is too good, so she is an outcast amongst us.
Yet, I do love her so.
Want to talk to her, she who is all alone
Want to be her friend, but cannot
Want to make her laugh, and see the good in me too
I will talk to her today, I decided
Lunchtime and I search for her, my love
But I do not see her,
Casually I ask around, searching for where she is
I learn the hard truth
My love, my true love
I hear from a girl who used to sit behind her in English
My girl, always kind and smiling, breathed her final breath last night
A drunk driver they say, and quietly we all mourn with regret
I go to her funeral, surrounded by her friends and family
Together, united by her, we mourn
I am now alone at her grave
This is where I whisper what I have always felt
“I love you, so wait for me okay?”
That is the truth, I tell her
