• EARLY WINTER’S BREEZE
    by UC Poika

    Feeling sacrificed for their fears,
Pedaling slowly toward the city sidewalks’ cracks,
Catching the eyes, of no one meaning to, each hears
The distant sounds of a brokenhearted sax
From a tree, in a plaza, that’s appealing even without bark
As joylessly they ride with only their memories’ mates
Watching fighting squirrels find no places to park
Within manmade nature spread about for just these dates
As toddler screams roll their eyes toward their brains
Meeting at last, managing their moments just the same
While humming the tune of the saxophone’s sweet strains
Ending with a need for learning the other’s name
They walk and talk in front of the naked trees
Of lives meant to meet in Early Winter’s breeze.
