• it's hard to imagine
    what happens at night
    because all of the humans
    play in the light......

    but i know shadow boy
    lurks in the dark
    where it's too dark to see
    even a small light spark........

    shadow boy loves the dark
    cause he melts in the sunlight......
    some say it's too hot
    he says it's too bright.......

    but i know something
    had brought him outside,
    this sunshiny girl
    made him swallow his pride......

    so he lurked in the shadows
    that bounced off the walls,
    or trees, or humans,
    or even bouncy-balls.......

    he lurked in her shadow
    whenever he could,
    so he could be near her,
    light permitting he would.......

    somehow she knew
    that he existed,
    so she kept her mouth shut
    though her mind persisted.......

    one day she went out
    for a walk one day
    and she couldn't hold it in,
    outloud she did say:

    "i know you're a spirit
    and you're following me
    so leave before i harm you,
    i recommend you flee!!!!!"

    he stayed by her side,
    but shyly spoke out
    "i will not harm you,
    have no doubt......

    i find humans interesting
    you most of all,
    so i followed you,
    i was the shadow in the wall......"

    and for some odd reason,
    she wasn't afraid
    and felt like there was a friend
    she had just made........

    so she trusted the voice
    and he came from the dark
    and he said right to her
    "my name is mark".......

    the problem is
    the world isn't black and white
    sometimes it's all day,
    sometimes it's all night.......

    the girl visited him
    during dark hours
    under the moon's
    enchanting powers.......

    and one night,
    just before dawn,
    she was to visit him
    but something went on........

    a lion was hunting
    in the same mountain
    and it found the girl
    and made her blood a fountain.......

    shadow boy was too late
    and found her in blood
    and though he's a spirit
    his eyes began to flood.........

    the sun rises quicker
    than most of us trust,
    and he joined her in the afterlife
    as his body turned to dust.......
