You ask me for a story
But how do I tell the tale
Of a simple, sad and lonely girl
Trapped in her own living hell?
You look at me and see a smile
So everything must be alright
But it's only there for a little while
Or until you pass from sight
How can you know the pain in my heart
The endless wounds that I'm forced to hide?
I can feel myself being torn apart
And shredded from the inside
In my head I wonder
What lies beyond these prison walls
Perhaps a world of distorted reality
Where the voices in my head are just a raven's calls
I sit alone and listen as
He begs me to take a chance with you
And I merely respond by asking
If what I'm feeling for you is true
Is this just another passing fancy?
Is it possible that you could actually be real
Or is this, in fact, a waking nightmare
Where nothing is quite as it seems?

- Title: Distorted Reality
- Artist: LaPetiteGargouille
- Description: A poem I wrote in a high school writing class a couple years ago. I've been working on it for a while and think it's finally done. Took me quite some time just to think of a title, but I'm probably going to settle on this one.
