Ballad
Now listen here follow I’m going to tell you a story
But this happened a long time ago so don’t you worry
It’s about the Trail of Tears
And this horrible time, it may have lasted for years
About 200 years ago the white men were fierce
But the Native’s morale they couldn’t pierce
Well the Natives accepted settlers into their tribes
And in return they gave back some seriously bad vibes
So they passed a removal act
And that’s a fact
And before thrown out Indians joined the Stockades
In which, none of them were given much aid
They were forced to walk on what’s now known as the Trail of Tears
This is now one of America’s worst fears
Indians didn’t have great shoes strapped onto their feet
Which in many people’s eyes wasn’t much feat
No one really knows how many Cherokee died
But we all know that they certainly tried
And the Cherokee said, “Well we were here first, and we need more land”
“So I think it’s time, we made a demand”
So they signed a treaty in 1835
And the white man replied, “Well okay, I guess we’ll take a dive”
After that most things were fine
So I guess it is over this Ballad of mine
