Like the night-
You are to be loved in secret.
Like the moon above-
Your kindness shows when we met.
Your eyes like the stars,
Burn through the soul that is me;
I am drawn forever,
Mercilessly, by the powers that be.
But like the moon-
Thou wish for the beauty of the sun,
To burn brightly among men;
To change what one wishes undone.
I too have seen thou-
With eyes so secretly.
Wondering why, one would want,
To change how mortals see thee.
What thou hast left, unregarded-
The beauty of thy soul;
For what is shown from thy heart,
Is more radiant than body, whole.
The wings of the dove left clipped,
Leave it wanting more-
But thy wings art still serene,
And thou should be meant to soar.

- Title: Secret
- Artist: Pencil Thin Gentleman
- Description: Beauty- society today loves to lie about what it really is in the media and the world around us. Here is a poem that I wrote to someone who had believed those lies- and went so far as to believe she needed liposuction- when she wasn't close to ever needing it.
