The girl.
The girl wandered the streets.
People stole from each other.
People got drunk.
She had no money.
She had no money for anything.
In her pocket was a broken coin she'd found on the dusty path.
It was half a penny.
She would use it to buy a crumb of cake for her family.
She handed it to the market owner.
The owner laughed.
"A girl, come to give me half a penny?"
"It's for a crumb."
"No. I want money!!! REAL money!!!"
She went back to the streets.
People stole from the stalls.
People ripped each others clothes.
Her family were waiting.
Down in the alley.
The broken beer bottle's glass tore her feet.
She had no food.
She had nothing.
But she was happy.
Because she had done no wrong,
And she had all she ever wanted...
