-
Run around and raise your voice,
No more do you have to hide.
Watch the children as they yell with joy,
Inhale the air and smell the trees,
For you are almost free.
Close your eyes and turn away,
Don't see the barbed wire.
Ignore the men up high,
Loaded guns dangerously at their sides.
For you can never be free.
See the world once more without a window,
Feel the rain as it falls down.
Gaze up at the sun's bright light,
Catch a rainbow if you're lucky,
For you will one day be free.
Do not hear the bullets fire,
Steel yourself against the dying cries.
Know that could be you one day,
Slaughtered by the Nazi Soldiers,
For you will never be free.
Each day becomes more precious,
Still you know death will come as it comes to all,
A day shall come where the sun greets the world,
And it shall not greet you.
But you now are free.

- Title: Hiding Freedom
- Artist: quickthief94
- Description: At my school we're talking about Oskar Schindler and the Holocaust. I was thinking about what it had to be like in one of the camps, where you never know if you'll live or die, and how either way, somehow everyone will be freed. Hope you understand what I'm trying to convey through this poem.
