• It all started by sitting next to you in class
"Can I borrow a pen?" You quietly ask.
A blush on my face at your innocent eyes
I hand you the pen, my heart soars and flies.

I am silent until the end of class
Amazed at how quickly the time can pass.
You give me the pen and say, "See you tomorrow,"
The next day I'll have a new pen you can borrow.

I walk home with thoughts filled only of you
Your soft touch, your brown hair, your eyes so blue.
I lay on my bed, look up at the ceiling
I don't know if I can contain this feeling.

The following weeks, I blush and I stumble,
At every single word you say and you mumble.
You look in my eyes and you know what I feel
I melt in my seat from my secret revealed.

You shyly look the other way, the red in your cheeks,
I see your eyes twinkle, this goes on for weeks.
You talk to me and laugh with me, we have so much fun.
I think that you like me; my work here is done.

But you look the other way, to the girl I despise,
You look at her like she's some God-given prize.
You sweep back your hair and I see your eyes twinkle
She flips her hair back, lets it twirl, shows her dimple.

I see you walk home with her, hand in her hand,
The hope I have in me, all but a strand.
A strand that is breaking, the end is a tangle,
A strand that's so thin, a strand where I dangle.

The sight now before me sends my heart breaking
To you, I was giving, to me, you were taking
Taking my life, my future, my heart
The heart you now rip and you tear it apart.

With so much as a glance, you look my way
You throw back my pen, and call it a day.
So I was a tool, I get it, I know,
I hold back a tear and I turn to go.

So hold her and kiss her, yes, if you must,
I know you don't care that you've lost my trust.
You talked to me and laughed with me, we had so much fun,
I thought that you liked me, but someone else won.

It stupidly started by sitting next to you in class,
"Can I borrow a pen?" You stupidly ask.
The red in my face when you look in her eyes,
And now my heart sinks, and now my heart dies.
