• The Town
    By Terry Busby
    AKA MrB

As I walked into that dreadful town,
With walls of ash and cobbled ground,
I smiled as I looked around

    Because it was so beautiful.

    Such splendor! Far beyond adore!
    Ne’re had I seen before!
    The rapture! Structure! Pure amor!

    Because it was so beautiful.

I sat upon a rounded stone
As I beheld the fruits once sown
By people that are now unknown.

    Because it was so beautiful.

I looked up to the blackened sky
And thought “Alas, he wasn’t shy,
For now not even a pleasured cry.”

    Because it was so beautiful.

The strongest ones to field will go
But only death from every foe.
I figured that this must be so.

    Because it was so beautiful.
But from this town I must depart.
I leave it with a heavy heart.
I’ll never forget that work of art.

    Because it was so beautiful.
