If every word spoken was an echo of the mind,
would truth ring out instead of jilted lies.
Or would we start lying in to ourselves,
and leave hearts wishes solidly confined?
Would it be better if memory faded,
deep in the dark of the shadows of time?
What if has been haunting me and I wanted to say-
(chorus)
I knew,
You knew.
We lied to each other.
Love lived,
Love died.
You couldn't be stronger.
I tried,
you said good bye-
And now I'm wondering if there was anything more on your side.
I didn't have the courage to tell you,
all the secret thoughts I held inside.
All my dreams of being with you,
didn't last long and couldn't survive.
It was in my past when I was young,
too far now to try and rectify.
These scars never left me, and I just want to say-
(chorus)
I knew,
You knew.
We lied to each other.
Love lived,
Love died.
You couldn't be stronger.
I tried,
you said good bye-
And now I'm wondering if there was anything more on your side.
How could I break locks that kept me silent?
You knew more then me on the approach.
You were the one who was older.
You knew my experience was crippling.
So tell now, do you ever wonder why!
If only I had a chance to say-
(chorus)
I knew,
You knew.
We lied to each other.
Love lived,
Love died.
You couldn't be stronger.
I tried,
you said good bye-
And now I'm want to know if there was anything more on your side.

Description:
Almost every person I know has experienced a "what if" romance. Its the time period when there seems a possibility of something, but then for unknown or known reasons it falls apart. I drew influence for this from a personal "what if" that happened before I ever heard of Gaia. Hopefully this touches a nerve with others. The type of music for this would be something like one of The Birthday Massacre's songs. This is dedicated to any person who had a "what if". Feedback is welcome!
