they ask me to write down
my race
and i think
and think very seriously
if i should write down
the truth
and have my answer read
inside this body
i have a grandfather
fighting for our country
i have a mother
tending to her ill duaghter
i have a woman
getting married at 18
i have a father
dropping out of highschool
to support his family
inside this body
i have a million things
but i stop
and simply write down
"My race? Why do you ask?"

- this poem is a very deep poem about how people ask you to write down what race you are when really there is no answer to that question. there is no answer because everyone in this world has so many different things inside there body that you really can't put a label on what one person is.
