• Death among lovers

    Stagnant pools of burgundy
    Grips the stark white walls
    Fervently
    The poignant scent
    Gagging my senses
    Like Father’s choking hands
    Poke-a-dot spots
    Plaster her skin
    Some old; Some new
    Skeleton bone walls
My cage or is it home?
    Mother’s warmth still glows
There; like a star it lit my path.

    Pointless tears fall
    Like raindrops
    Scarlet paints the cotton carpet
    Throbbing pain echoes
In the corners of my mind
    A raging metal ballad
    Coinciding with father’s screams
    His raw fury thumping hard
    Like a bass drum

    Mama’s blanket still smells
Like her; protecting me from the blows
    Acid stenches of liquor
    Her scream
    Like a banshee’s howl
    Woven into the threads
    Gunshot stare
Chilling the skin like a ghoul’s touch
    The rusted switch blade
    Menace; fiend
    But saving grace
    Angel of death
Diamond droplets sliding as she smiled
    Her drained love still smoldering
    Radiance in a dim world
