One year ago this day
My world came crashing down.
And today I wonder,
Was I ever found?
Did someone pull
Me from the rubble,
Or was I there to stay?
I still pull glass
Shards from my arm
Was it meant to be this way?
Did the trauma
Leave the line flat,
Or did I realize the rays?
I hope that I’ll forget
But there’s a part;
A part that screams “always”
Have I regained
The strength to walk,
Or on the ground I lay?
A natural disaster; blind.
Not to see me broken.
Will you ever pay?
Was any one there to
Hold my hand,
Or was I alone to pray?
One year longer;
One year stronger?
Remembering the struggle of yesterday.
And in some twist of fate,
I survived the first three-sixty or so.
But sometimes it seems
I never lived after the blow.
One year ago this day
My world came crashing down.
And today I wonder,
Was I ever found?

- Title: Check for a Pulse.
- Artist: The One and Only Deli
- Description: Brand new one, to commemorate a huge heart brake I took almost one year ago today. Sometimes, when something comes and rips you apart, you wonder if, although you physically lived through it, you ever really survived. (sorry that the title sucks though!)
