- Nyx) It was a good hit. It hit the Templar in the lungs, immediately startling him. He let go of the boy-Jaymz he said his name was. Jaymz pushed the Templar back and ran to me, immediately turning into a natural defensive stance in front of me. He had grace, speed, and a good stance. If trained, he would be an excellent Assassin. The Templar stood up, growling. Jaymz tensed, but I touched his shoulder. “Give me the dagger, Jaymz.” He looked at me doubtfully, but I held out my hand and nodded reassuringly. Hesitantly, he gave it to me. I strode up to the Templar and gave him a roundhouse kick to the head. He staggered and fell, but grabbed my arm and dragged me down. He punched me in the back, right on the knife wound from last night. I saw red and black, but reached back and scratched his eyes with my sharpened nails. He roared in my ear, letting me go. I pushed myself up, spun around, and landed with my knee in his chest. His breath was forced out of him. While he was downed, I raised the dagger and brought it down as hard as I could onto his heart. He died instantly. Just in case, I slit his throat. “La pace sia con te, a trovare la strada per la prossima vita con facilità,” I said as I closed his eyes. I stood up and cleaned the blade carefully on my hospital gown. Then, I turned to Jaymz and gave the dagger back to him. Then, I held out my hand. “Hello, Jaymz. My name is Nyx. I am an Assassin.” He stared at me, then started laughing. “Hello, Nyx. My name is Jaymz. I’m an international pop star.” I couldn’t help but start laughing, too. However, a knock on the door startled us. “Dr. Rosenburg? You’re needed in Room 19B.” Quickly, I remembered. The Templar’s voice and mimicked it. “Thank you. I will go once I’m done with this patient.” I heard footsteps leave the door. I sighed. “I guess that means it’s time to go.” Jaymz looked panicked. “You’re covered in blood. How will we get out?” I looked at myself. My gown was bloody, my long hair tangled and matted, and I had no shoes. Jaymz looked perfectly fine, however. I sighed again, staring at the ceiling strait at a vent. “You go. Meet me in front of the supply room. Go.” He obediently left. I climbed onto the bed, opened the vent, and climbed in. Just as I reset the vent cover, I heard the door open. “Nyx? Which one?” I looked through the vent. “Just wait out front for me. Oh, and pick a car. A Corvette preferably.” He left. I crawled through the ducts, dropping into a clothing storage room after a few minutes. I changed into tight black jeans, a skin-tight black t-shirt, a black leather jacket, black socks, and motorcycle boots. Just before I left, I grabbed a black fedora with a red band on it. In the pocket of the jacket were an empty wallet and a small comb. I combed my hair as I walked, put on the fedora, and pickpocketed people as I passed. By the time I reached Jaymz, I had a couple hundred dollars in the wallet and a gold ring, which I wore. “Hey, did you find our car?” He looked at me, startled. “Nice clothes. It’s over there.” He pointed. I smiled as I walked to it. “An ’09 Corvette GT1 Championship Edition with custom paint and custom leather interior? Sweet. Oh, look. They left the doors unlocked.” I climbed into the driver’s seat and pulled down the sun visor. Keys fell into my lap. “Cool, the keys. Hey, move!” Jaymz said when I stayed in the driver’s seat. “No way, dude. I drive. Don’t fight with me. I’ll win.” Grumbling, he went into the passenger seat. I started the engine and we drove off. I’m going home.
