The young wolf pup looked up at the midnight sky, wondering how the earth kept its peace. He has asked every wolf he encountered, but none seemed to have the answered.
“Are you lost little one?” he yipped and turned around, spotting two distinct wolves. A bright red one, the color of the sun, and a pale silver one, as calm as the moon.
“Who are you two?” he asked, his ears tilting to the side with curiosity. The she wolf, the silver one smiled. “We are the beginning.” She said lightly in a smooth quiet voice. The pup was taken aback, for he was never told how they were created. “Would you like to learn more?” the solar wolf asked, taking a step forwards. The brown black pup nodded eagerly awaiting an answered.
“Then let’s begin.” The two strangers said at once. A large flash rand through the valley, covering everything in white. The pup yelped as the earth itself disappeared beneath its paws. “Do not be afraid little one.” The she wolf whispered. He spun around but nothing was there.
“In the beginning there was nothing. Only something to be molded into earth,” the ground came up around him, dead and black. “The sky” a violet blanket covered the area above his head. “The wind, the sea.” An ocean stretched out to his right and a soft breeze rang through the air. “There was also the necessary element of fire, for everything needed heat.” He could now feel the warmth of earth under his blistered paws. “And eventually ice to keep the fire in check.” Snow began to fall from the sky.
“But this was a dead world. Time and space needed to be added to the equation.” Stars rang through the sky and he could see the earth change over time. Grass began to grow, the sea rose and grew, a mountain stretched over everything. Eventually life itself was created. The wolf pup looked around, imagining what would have happened to life altogether.
“But we wanted to watch the earth with our own eyes.” “So we became the moon and the sun.” the moon and the sun appeared next to each other in the sky. The pup blinked at the brightness both large rocks together created. “But how did we come into existence?” the pup called out. The moon and sun hopped from the sky and landed before the pup. “There were eight wolves in the beginning. Time and space, earth and air, fire water, lightning and ice.” “The children of the earth were not just regular wolves, but the elements incarnated in the form of wolves.” The she wolf began walking into the forest and the male followed, leaving the pup alone.
“Earth was one of the youngest pups, so calm and controlled, but one angry moment and the ground shook violently.” A green brown pup walked out of a tree, seeming alone and quite solemn. Just as the brown pup was going to step pout of the way, the green wolf walked right through him. The pup stiffened and screamed. “He cannot see you or hear you young one.” The moon whispered. The brown pup calmed slightly and looked at the green wolfs fur. It was mostly fur but he could see the branches sticking out of his tail and legs. There were leaves littering his mane and his eyes seemed alone.
“Why am I not normal? Why can I not be like the others?” he asked the trees. They seemed to respond to him sympathetically bowing there branches and losing there leaves as if crying. It was not until sap began to collapse on him that he jumped and began to sooth nature.
“He was a misfit, but he found friendship in the trees.” The sun spoke.
“Why? He looks nice.”
“But wouldn’t his strange fur scare you? His own parents rejected him fore his strange qualities.”
“Yes, but I’m just as much of a misfit as he is. I never fit in with the others.” The brown pup looked at the green one sadly. The sun looked at his mate and she met his gaze. “There are others we must find little one. Come along.” The world faded into darkness and the pup found himself in just that.
Darkness.
The brown wolf walked forward a little to find out there was no sense of up or down. He then saw little specks of light here and there until it looked like the heavens were molding under his very paws. “This is the sky beyond. Or as humans call it space.” “Is there a wolf out here?” the brown pup asked. The sun appeared next to him. “Yes, there he comes now.” A violet wolf raced across the galaxy, casing comets and shooting stars, bounding through nebulas and shattering constellations. It seemed happy out here on its own, laughing and howling with glee. “Unfortunately, every star must fall at some point.” The moon whispered. The violet wolf paused and looked down. The brown pup followed his gaze. A tiny planet lied there, covered in blue and green. The brown pup knew he was looking at his home. Earth was just a bound away from the violet wolf. It crouched down low and pounced towards the planet, like a meteor. “Wait!” the brown pup ran after him, ignoring the heat that came with him moving through space. “Stop little one, he will be fine.” The moon whispered. “But he’s going to fall!” “Now, now, he won’t die that easily. Space just thinks of every planet as a new adventure. We have other wolves to meet, little one, but you must be prepared to learn. The past can affect the future.” They zoomed in to the earth, but a different region.
The ground was cold and covered in ice, water sloshed up around the pups feet.
“This is the arctic regions of earth little one. Here is the place where water and ice reside together.” And with that, two similarly distinct wolves bounded across the mixture of ice and water. One was as white as the snow, small violet streaks across its muzzle giving it an icy look. The other was an aqua blue, its movements swift and liquid like. “Nyan, you can’t catch me~!” the water wolf shouted, bounding across the water. The ice wolf huffed and began to run across the water, covering it with ice. “Hey no fair!” “I never said I was going to be fair!” the ice wolf called out. The brown pup tilted his head to the side, wondering why adults would act like that. “They are younger than you if you must know. Two days old in fact.” The two wolves were very loud, causing ice bergs and other stuff to collapse. The seemed happy enough here. Suddenly they stopped. “Did you hear that?” the aqua one asked, stepping towards the south. The ice one nodded. “Who didn’t? … You want to go find out what it was?” “Yeah! Let’s go!”
The brown pup was taken back to a new location. This one seemed familiar to him. A soft breeze flew through the air, giving him a feeling of tranquility. Two wolves were sitting atop a large bolder. The she wolf was a soft breezy color, her fur rippling softly in the wind. The other was a lightning yellow, and apparently, younger that the wind wolf. The wind wolf looked up and stood. “Come along little one. It is time to meet the others.” The lightning wolf looked up at his mother and dropped the stick he was gnawing on. “Okay. Lead the way mother.” They leapt off the cliff and shot down the mountain, the wind keeping the she wolf and her pup in place.
“Are you still curious young one?” the sun asked the brown pup. They were near a volcano, where the fire wolf resided. “Yes, I still have much to learn.” The moon smiled. “This is fire, and time. Watch as they combined to create something.” A fire wolf pounced onto a patch of soil, heating it up so it became lava. “Oi, stop that!” a gold and black wolf pounced onto the lava patch and before the brown ones eyes, the earth began to turn back to soil. “Aww, your no fun sour puss. Lets create another mountain okay!” “Shut up! You’re just as immature as the flames you create! No control!” “Aww, I was just having fun-.” “Did you hear that?” the time wolf looked up and twitched his ears. “Oh, its time. You lead the way; I have other stuff to do.” “Oh no, your coming with me.” The gold-black wolf nipped the fire wolfs ankles and they began to run towards whatever was calling them.
The brown pup looked at the sun and moon. “Do they still exist?” he asked. The moon and sun blinked and they were back at there original location. “I’m afraid not, little one. But if you attempt to seek them out, we will be watching.” They began to walk back up to the skies. “Wait! I… I’ll find them!” the two wolves looked back at the mortal pup. “You? …Alright then. Every night we shall grant you a dream. If you puzzle these dreams together, one gat, you might just find the wolves.” And with that, they continued onto the sky where they resumed there planet forms. The brown pup looked up at the sky. “I will find them. I swear I will.”
