]Prelude
The old man's heels made a dull clicking noise as he walked along the bloodstained cobbles. Even after all these years the destruction of The War still hung low over the City of Stone. The narrow street had once been wide enough to fit a group of people 25 abreast through but now no more than two could walk side by side. Some say that every year on the very night that it happened one can still hear the bloodcurdling screams of the wounded and dying, and the roar of the dragons and dragonkin that marched triumphantly through the streets that day. The old man stopped suddenly, thinking that he heard someone shout his name. He turned around to see that the small walkway was empty. He shrugged it off as though he had imagined it and kept on walking. But as soon as he had gone 5 paces he heard it again, this time it was louder. But again there was no one there. So he kept on walking and when he came to the door of the Blue Moon Inn, one of the few buildings stil remaining untouched by the horrors of The War, he heard the voice. It was right behind him now. So this time he turned around and playing out in front of him was the battle that had doomed the surrounding city. All around him he saw his friends being slaughtered by the Dragonkin that marched through the streets. Screams came from behind him. He turned to see that there was a gigantic dragon diving toward right where he was standing. He saw everyone running. Then just as quickly as it began, it stopped. He looked around for the bodies of his friends only to realize that it was his memories comming back to haunt him. He turned and walked down the path to the inn. A icy winter wind sent a chill down his back as he walked. And as he opened the door to the inn a light snow began to fall...
