• Key Found (NYC)

I ran to the park, heedless of cars or crosswalks or pedestrians. For once there is no traffic, so it’s very dangerous. I don’t care; I have to get to the Stone. I race to a hill, muttering to myself what seems like nonsense to the Blind Ones. I ignore two Blind boys who call to me as I climb the hill, trying not to slip or drop the Key. As I reach the top, I see the Stone. It’s a huge black thing with a grey-black base. Each side of the base has some writing in the Old Language on it, along with a shaped notch. The Chosen were already there.

As I run to them, the Key breaks in my hand. I look at it as I run, and saw it had broken into four pieces. I hand each piece to each one of the Chosen and they take their place next to the Stone. I watched the sun, waiting for the right moment. Just as it goes under the Edge, I yelled, “Now!” The Chosen placed their pieces of the key into the Stone simultaneously. Immediately, the Stone shattered and out flew the Great One. The Chosen flew up, too, in front or the herds of Dragons that followed the Great One. They flew up, higher and higher, until they were lost in Space.

In Space, two men quarreled over one of the hundreds of Dragons. It angered the Great One. He flew down, back to the Stone. The men continued arguing.

I was watching the Stone from the inside. The four pieces of the Key slammed into the inside, right in front of me. They formed a glowing Symbol. “Oh, no, oh, no! Too soon, too soon!” I cried. I looked up and Jumped out of the Stone, just as the Great one hit it. The Stone reformed above it and the pieces of the Key flew of in separate directions.
