People think I am suspicious. I agree completely.
I fall. Hitting the ground with such force I think I broken every bone in my body. The shadows move closer as if they are closing in. I awake with a start. I am sweating like crazy. I get up and stub my toe on my lap top. I curse at it briefly. I hop in the shower in hope of washing away the dream from my sleep. It doesn’t work.
I trip out of the shower, and brush my teeth. Attempt to brush through my hair. I get dressed in my favorite tutu (hot pink!), neon green tights, and put my converse boots in my book bag. I skip into the kitchen grab an orange. As I peel it I hear mumbling of my mother in her room. Realizing that she will awaken soon, I grab my book bag from where I threw it on the floor. I walk out on to the porch. Sit down on the step and put my skates. I head towards the bike trail. Once there I hear my mom thrashing around in the kitchen. Without another thought I am on my way to school. At the end of the trail there’s a bench I sit there and take of my skates and put on my shoes. Before I cross the parking lot I hide my skates in the bushes.
Why do I always feel like I am walking to my death as I enter the front door to my school? It’s a question I’ve always wondered. Then it starts. People whisper, give confused glances, turn their noses up, oh and the best they laugh. Laugh at what I am wearing the scars on my arms, and what I have written in black ink on my arms. They don’t understand me and never will, the answer is simple I am not like them. I never was.
