• Sicilia slipped under the covers, wrapping her arms around herself to hopefully beat the cold. The heater cheated her out again, but she was too frightened to complain to the apartment complex manager. The man was too angry about even working at the complex to worry about anyone else's problems. But she didn't mind; the blanket she had was deliciously warm, so she could stand it until it finaly turned back on. She smiled; bittersweet, but the blanket was soft and nice.
The smile faded when she heard a knock at the door. She frowned and tried to decide between her warmth and the door-caller; the blanket was so soft...but she always answered the dor. She sighed and let the blanket fall from her shoulders, shivering almost instantly as the goosebumps formed on her skin. She hugged herself tenderly as she walked to the door. Before she could even make it across the room, however, she heard a slurred call from the other side, which made her cringe.
"Sicilia, open- hic!-...open the bloody door!..."
She stopped at the tiny kitchen counter to make sure it was who she thought it was. She sincerely hoped it wasn't who she thought it was.
"Sicilia, love -hic!-...my little Virgin Island~..."
Her face went completely pink; it was definitely him.
She shook her head and walked up to the door, opening it cautiously.
He was leaned against the doorframe, the neck of a cheap beer bottle clenched in his palm. He turned his head to the door and, dropping the glass bottle in surprise, smiled miserably, as he did whenever he was completely drunk.
"I knew you'd -hic!- open the door, love." He ignored the shattered glass on the ground and slowly staggered inside, pressing Sicilia against the counter. "I missed you~"
Her face flushed, but she closed her eyes and shook her head. "Arthur, you're...drunk, again."
He snuggled his face into her neeck, making her blush worse. "So you noticed, love~"
"Why are you drunk again?" She stifled a giggle when Arthur pulled her closer, grunting like a stubborn little child.
"You never open the door to -hic!- me when I'm sober..."
He nibbled her chin, his eyes still closed drowsily. A wind blew in from the door, and she shivered. She started to maneuver herself from his arms, but he gave her a miserable look. "Why are you leaving me again?" he asked uneasily, clutching her tighter against him.
"Arthur, sweety, I'm just going shut the door. Okay?" She kissed his cheek and managed to pry his hands off her waist, walking to the door to shut it. As soon as the door clicked, she felt his arms around her again, squeezing her protectively.
"Why did you leave -hic!- me before?" he drawled in her ear, sounding near tears. "I fed you, and kept you safe, and loved you, and -hic!-" He let go, staggering back like he'd been hit between the eyes. There was a bewildered expression in his face, and he blinked wildly. "F-Flying mint bunny? What are you -hic!- doing here?"
Sicilia sighed and held him up before he could lose his balance again. She noticed the scrapes on his elbows, little blood drops staining his usually crisp white cuffs, wrinkled and pushed up his forearm. She frowned; he'd probably tripped on his way here...how did he get here anyways? She stroked right below the scratches and whispered, "You hurt yourself on the way up the steps again?" He was too mesmerized by whatever he was seeing, though, to reply; whatever this "flying mint bunny" was, it was really getting his attention. "Let's go sit down... I have some cleaning alcohol in the bathroom."
"More alcohol's -hic!- the last thing I need, love..."
She let him sit down on her bed, careful to make sure her fluffy blanket wouldn't touch his scratches, and walked to the bathroom.
She had no idea where this flying green rabbit idea came from, but she knew his little "beliefs" weren't doing well mixed with his drinking problem, and she didn't mind. Seeing a cute "mint bunny" flying around the house would definitely cheer some people up every once and a while.
Meanwhile, Arthur was stuck in his little hallucination. He reached up to touch the soft, sweet green fur of his little bunny friend-
    And she poofed away.
He frowned and looked around for the missing pet. Nowhere to be found. He sighed and slumped forward, resting his head to his knees.
    "Everyone's -hic!- leaving me..."
Sicilia suddenly appeared in front of him, lifting Arthur's head up so he would look at her. She was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen in his life, and as much as he hated to admit it, he was a pretty old man. Her sweet, dark blue eyes, always filled with care; she was so caring compared to others, and yet she seemed to be so frail, like a piece of china. Even whenever he was drunk, he was still afraid to do so much as shake her hand because she looked like her hand would fall off. But she took care of him, and he was extremely grateful for that.
"Arthur, I'm sorry if this stings a little," she whispered, holding up a tiny spray bottle; probably the cleaning alcohol. He braced himself for the pain, but it was dull and almost unnoticeable as she sprayed both elbows and wrapped a bandage around both. She kneeled down in front of him and tilted her head, resting her hands in her lap.
"Is there anything else you need, lanmou?"
He stared at her in wonder, reaching out to touch her cheek. She raised an eyebrow to the gesture and locked his fingers with hers. She smiled. "Arthur, are you alright?"
Arthur smiled slightly, still staring down at her. "-hic!- Yes, love, I'm...fine..." He unsteadily pulled her up and into a hug with the one hand. He missed having this angel in his arms; this little Caribbean angel.
She was surprised by his sudden gentleness, but was grateful for the warmth. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and rested her head against his chest. "Just as long as you're okay... Why were you drinking?" She looked up at him with a saddening expression. "You only drink whenever something's distressing you..."
He tried to pretend like he didn't hear her, pressing his face into her neck. "My dear angel...I -hic!- missed you..."
"I-I...missed you too..." She blushed as he kissed her neck delicately, as if she were to break. "Arthur, please answer me..." She lifted her head from his chest and cupped his cheeks, forcing him to look at her. "What is causing you pain?"
He looked into her eyes briefly, breaking his gaze after only a moment. He couldn't bear to see the worry in her eyes.
    "There...there's nothing wrong..."
She leaned in to meet his eyes again.
    "Yes, there is."
She closed her eyes and gently pressed her lips to his ear.
    "Arthur."
He lost all the strength left to hold his head up and buried his face into her neck. Tears started to fall from his eyes.
    "I need you, Sicilia."
