• When the bell jangled in their ears, the three plates were clean of glop and the trio headed for their class, mixing and moving with all the other millions of students milling around. All relying on the flow of students to make it into their classes before their teachers entered and made life hell for them.
Ignorant brats. That was what the man standing outside labelled the students as he lazily observed their actions, his covered eyes hopping from one face to another, searching for a particular target. His eyes widened slightly as he caught sight of the girl happily chatting to her friends, though a panicked expression adorned her face and his mouth took on a lazy grin. He finally found her.
Meanwhile, the trio finally squeezed into their classroom after struggling to free themselves from the flow of students still transposing the corridors and flew to their seats, soothing their clothes the best they could to try and save what was left of their dignity and pride.
Their teacher was the next to enter and even he looked flustered, but then again, who wouldn’t be? After duelling with the rushing stream outside for time.
“Alright class! Now’s history. Let’s learn some nice soothing Herinodia facts. Okay?” Despite the huge wave of grumbles that met his remark, the pencil thin teacher pulled out the heavy, thick book that was their history textbook and flipped it open. The sound of flipping pages followed soon after as the whole class resigned itself to a boring hour of when and where of the past world.
The tiny jangle of the little front door bell jolted the receptionist out of her daydream and into alertness as a lanky blonde rushed in, his eyes wide with fear.
“Can I help you?” Her voice was puzzled as he propped a hand on the counter, his breath coming out in quick pants. Looking into her quizzical green eyes, he answered with visible terror in his voice.
“I need to see Aurelia Ligrata right now!”
Aurelia yawned as she listened with half an ear as the teacher continued to blabber on about the historical happenings of a world she was not a part of and never would be. Then, feeling a guilty twinge, she forced herself to focus on the teacher’s words. Her pencil quickly flying across the pad as she scribbled down notes attentively, at first unaware of the amused set of eyes watching her at work.
When her inner instincts proclaimed the fact that it was feeling eyes on her, she glanced around to see Justin’s amused face and glared at him.
“What?” She pushed the whisper out as she flipped to the next page in her textbook to copy down more notes and the boy grinned at her.
“You look cute when you’re working.” He muttered and a faint bit of colour washed over her face.
“Shut up.” She hissed at him and returned to her work, the colour now tingeing her neck as well. The next thing to happen was the announcement that rang out through the announcement system.
“Will Aurelia Ligrata of class 4F4 please come to the General Office now? Thank you.” When the system clicked off, the teacher looked around for the girl who stood up in a smooth motion, her usual look returning to her now cold eyes.
“If I may be excused sir.” She left the classroom and headed down the corridor. Her cold manner securely in place and her heart pounding with anticipation. Images flickered through her mind as she briefly wondered why was she wanted in the office and she cleared them out the moment her slender hand rested on the handle to the glass door.
“May I know who is looking for me?” She questioned the woman behind the counter who pointed her in the direction of a wild looking little man who was hunched up in a corner, his tiny eyes darting from one to another.
“Are you Miss Aurelia Ligrata?” He asked her, his eyes never quite meeting hers.
“I am.” In a voice as cold as her sapphire eyes, she waited as he filled in certain forms and led her outside the air conditioned office.
