• I stood, anxiety gnawing at my nerves, and quickening my usually steady breaths. My name, though the pronunciation was unfamiliar and foreign-sounding, was called from the depths of my clan's ceremonial domain, and I pivoted from where I was standing and began to go to the voice that had beckoned me. I walked up to the black thick material serving as the door, and before I entered I looked back to receive one last reassuring look from my brother, who was sitting tensely on the ground behind me. His silver-grey eyes said so many things at that moment. They mirrored my look of concern, but shone with a light of hope and the assurance that this was the best thing to do. I looked away and pushed aside the heavy cloth and entered into what I would soon refer to as the moment my life changed. When I passed through the door, it was as though my senses were hit with a tidal wave of feelings and scents and sights. The smell of lavender and sandalwood mixed with the unmistakeable scent of burnt papers and wax was overwhelming. Between the incense and the dim light of the various coloured candles and the weight of the situation made my eyes water, making the colors mix together and blur for a moment before I met the eyes of the tall dark haired elderly woman before me. She had fixed her piercing gaze on me and was staring intently, seeming as though she could see down into the very depths of my soul, and I felt so small and exposed under it. "the time has come that we begin the scrying, Lady Kaisara" she said, her ancient tongue adding the strange accent I had been addressed with earlier, and within a matter of moments, dragged me off into an previously unseen dark room, lit by one candle with a curious silverish flame. She looked at me with such an expression, that i knew it was time to begin.
