• Seth and Dawn walked down the streets of Suburbia. Dawn was shocked that such a run down place could exist in Telios. The streets were cracked and weathered by time. The buildings were old and crumbling. The sick and homeless wandered aimlessly in the streets.
"Is Seth right?", Dawn thought. "Does Nikolai really not care about these people?"
"Hey.", Seth said, interrupting Dawn's thoughts. "You OK?"
Dawn nodded her head in silence. Acknowledging her answer, Seth continued walking. Dawn began to wonder why they didn't take back roads and instead walked down the main one.
"Are we safe just walking in the open like this?", Dawn asked.
"Believe me, it's safer in the streets than it is in the alleys. Besides, Talons don't usually come to Suburbia, so we should be safe.", Seth explained.
Just then, a nearby radio in someone's house began a news report. "This is an emergency broadcast going out to all of Telios. A fugitive of the City is loose, and should be considered very dangerous. The suspect is a young woman, about eighteen, has blond hair and brown eyes..."
"And then something like that happens.", Seth remarked. "Come on, we have to move!"
Seth and Dawn ran through the streets of Suburbia, passing by many shady looking people and places. Finally, Seth stopped outside of a very old house. Bullet holes ran through one wall. Seth began frantically banging on the door.
"MARTIN! MARTIN, OPEN UP DAMMIT!", Seth cried. A tall, gangly man with crimson red hair and pale skin answered the door. "Martin, thank God!", Seth said.

"Oh, great. What d-" Martin began to say, before he noticed the woman standing behind Seth. "OH, HELL NO! Seth, I don't know what you got yourself into, but get the ******** out of here!" Martin yelled.
"No, Martin, listen, she's not dangerous like the radio says!", Seth explained.
"I DON'T GIVE A DAMN! If the Talons are after her, I don't want to be within a hundred feet of her!" Martin yelled back before slamming the door in Seth's face.
"MARTIN! MARTIN! DAMMIT, YOU COWARD! YOU WON'T EVEN HELP YOUR OWN BROTHER?!", Seth yelled into the house. Dawn became confused by this. Martin and Seth looked nothing alike, there was no way they could be brothers.
Martin opened the door just a crack. "You and I will NEVER be brothers. Do you understand? Now LEAVE.", Martin commanded.
Rage flashed across Seth's face. "YOU CAN'T KEEP BLAMING ME FOR WHAT HAPPENED TO MOM AND DAD! They were the only parents I ever had, the only ones who would take me in as an infant, and then they were taken away from us before I was old enough to even remember what they looked like!", Seth screamed in Martin's face.

As Martin stepped out, the two began arguing in the street. Dawn's confusion was cleared, but she began to worry. The Talons would probably be coming soon, and they couldn't afford to waste any more time. She had to intervene.
Dawn grabbed Martin's wrist and pleaded, "Please. Seth saved me from being taken by the Talons, and I don't even know why they want me. Now it's your turn to save us. Please, help."
Martin looked into Dawn's eyes and saw the sincerity in them. He sighed deeply and quietly said, "Alright. Fine. Get inside and go into the living room, quick." Martin let the two inside and then locked the door with several locks.
"Seth, go upstairs and keep a lookout. I'll stay here with the girl.", Martin said. Nodding his head, Seth ran to the second floor and watched out the window for any Talons. Martin sat down in the living room with Dawn. As she looked around, she saw how meanly he lived. No TV, no tables, the kitchen didn't even seem to have anything he could use to cook with.

"What's your name?", Martin asked abruptly. Dawn jumped slightly in surprise and gave him a puzzeled look. "What, are you wanted AND deaf?", Martin asked rudely. Dawn figured this man was where Seth got his attitude from.
"My name is Dawn.", she responded.
"Pretty name.", Martin replied. He pulled a lighter and a pack of cigarettes from his pants pocket. "So tell me...", Martin began to say as he lighted a cigarette. "What got you into so much trouble?"
Dawn looked down in sadness. "I don't even know. My parents were killed over nothing, and then they went after me.", Dawn explained.
"Hmm...", Martin hummed as he offered Dawn a cigarette.
"Oh, no, I don't smoke.", Dawn replied.
"Smart girl.", Martin said. After exhaling a large amount of smoke from his lungs, he began to speak. "You ain't the only person Seth's "saved". He's helped lots of peoplw run away, leading some to new lives. Though, there are the people that weren't so lucky. Seth mourns over all the people he's lost.", Martin explained. "You're probably gonna be with him for a while, so I figure you might wanna know a thing or two about him. Got any questions?", he asked.
Dawn couldn't think of anything off the top of her head. Eventually though, one thought came to mind. "Why does he wear that eye patch?", she asked. "I don't see a scar, or an injury, or anything."
"What, he didn't tell you? Ah, dammit Seth, what the hell are you trying to do? You can't ignore who you are, man...", Martin mumbled.
"What are you talking about?", Dawn asked.
Martin took another hit of his cigarette before answering in a very blunt tone, "My step-brother is a Chimera."
