I was lounging on my bed, reading up on some Today mags when I received a call from Edward. I picked up excitedly, and asked him if he was going to go ahead with the date. He was uncertain for a moment, and then sealed his fate by saying yes. I told him that I would arrange everything, and told him to get packed.
Some hours later, there was a knock on my door and I let Edward in to my house. He was no longer the heartthrob boy-toy but a hunted man, weakened and hurt from life as a Sparklepire. As he shuffled into the house, I noticed that Edward was carrying a suitcase with him. As I looked into his eyes, I realized that he was set on his destiny... and I wanted to help him as well as I could.
He rechecked the contents of his suitcase, counting out money, clothes, etc. I left him to make some phone calls - I was going to get my car; we had a long trip to do tonight.
As we headed out into the garage, Edward yawned and I knew we had to plan this out carefully.
After a few minutes of planning, we were off in my jet black Ferrari, and I allowed Edward some quick shuteye in the backseat. I understood that this is going to be a long trip. As a sliver of the moon peeked across the clouds, I looked both ways to ensure that no fangirls were watching us.
At that moment, Edward needed a toilet break, and I stopped the car. I followed him into the brush and watched carefully in case our car would get spotted by an officer on patrol. Thankfully, no such unpleasant interruptions from the law occurred, but my hearing picked up a click - and then I knew; a fan girl was hiding behind the bush, taking pictures.
With calm precision, we pretended not to notice the plump woman in the TEAM EDWARD 4 EVER T-shirt, and we circled around to fool her into thinking we'd left. And as she picked herself up from the bush, we jumped her.
She didn't have much time to yell before Edward jammed a chloroform-soaked rag in her face and held her in a powerful arm lock, and soon her desperate struggles for air ended. While Edward was busy tying up the woman, I started looking through the pictures she took. After a while, I snapped the memory card in two and then broke her camera on a rock. They would never find the body.
It was almost time.
After a few hours of driving through the forest, we came across a splintered stick driven halfway into the ground. This was where we would abandon our vehicle. I got out, and gently woke Edward up. After he checked his suitcase, we were hiking through the thick woods.
The thick woods soon turned into a clearing, and up ahead, we saw our objective. A makeshift airstrip cut out of the forest, and at the far end of it, an unmarked personal Lear jet idled. There was a small van which appeared to be practically bristling with telecommunications equipment in the side of the airfield.
A man wearing a United States Reserve Guard uniform and armed with a carbine spotted us and waved us over. As we walked towards the plane, a small group of suited men wearing identical suits, ties and shades emptied out of the plane to meet us.
"Mr Robert Pattinson?" one of them asked my date.
Edward nodded in reply.
"Do you have the sample?"
He nodded again, and reached into his suitcase, from which he removed a small lunchbox-shaped box marked "Biohazard" and was locked with a high-tech passkey/fingerprint device. As we watched, Edward entered the passkey and placed his index finger on it. It beeped and then the locks disengaged. Inside, was the script of S. Meyer's newest Twilight movie,
The man who appeared to be the leader of the suited group read the script for a bit and nodded, and placed the script back in the box, and took it. From the telecommunications van, a HazMat team in full level 4 suits came to collect the box,
"Mr. Pattinson, you have done your part of the bargain, and we will hold up ours gladly." The leader of the men in black smiled. "This plane will discreetly deliver you to any where in the world you want to go."
"You've finally earned your freedom, Ed." I told him as he boarded the plane.
"I couldn't have done it without you" he replied shyly. "So..."
I didn't say anything more. I leaned forward and kissed him goodbye.
I watched Edward board the plane, and then stood to the side, as the plane's engines revved up and watched as it took off... and watched until the plane disappeared into the sky.
"Bye, Eddie."
I then turned away and realized that a single tear had found its way down my face. I wiped it away and willed myself not to cry; Edward Cullen was a true American hero, and by leaking the script, he had saved millions of lives by allowing for the creation of an antidote.
