• As I hit the ground, I did a quick survey of the street. I was relatively safe for the moment, But i could smell them getting closer. The infected almost always traveled in groups of atleast 2. I could sense a pack of at least 5, and with only 2 bullets at the moment, the resulting sounds of conflict would draw more infected. So I took shelter in what was left of an office building, grabbing a machete, a can of aerosol, and a lighter for later.
I waited for them to pass, but they remained, scrounging the dead for the last bits of their blood. The Vampiristic side affects had only come recently, and only to some of the lesser infected. Depending on where they lived, some people had been infected in other ways. But for now, I had to worry about how to take them from this area. And so, readying my machete, I silently slinked out the side window, directly behind the infected.
I silently kept to the more shadowed area's of the street, attempting to remain unseen. The closest infected could be no more than a few yards away. Creeping ever closer, I tried to keep my self calm. An elevated heart rate drew the infected like nothing else. I now stood directly behind him, machete drawn, I slit his throat, and kicked his body before his pack.
As expected, they went for his blood before they worried about me. I had hoped I could kill them all, But i realized that the machete was still in the neck of the infected I had slain. An ammateur mistake, I knew, but I had no time to beat myself up over it, as the infected would be drained of blood soon. And so after taking the "Parkour" route across a few streets, I ended up in the Megalo-mart. It was like Walmart and Home Depot's love child, stocked with more weapons then I had known before.
I loaded up the sawed off, with a few extra ammunition packs. I also stopped to grab two pistols, food, a crow bar, and gasoline. I felt hungry for the first time in days, and I knew what I needed. I took aim with my sawed-off, and shot the fire alarm. I heard the scream of the infected, as atleast 15 of them swarmed to the front door. I smirked to myself and took aim at the lock on the front door...
