• tab One of the littlest cubs, the runt of the litter, approached the girl, ears flat and teeth bared. The girl growled and the pup ran up and licked her face. The girl giggled and stood up, sensing something different, something dangerous, coming towards her and her sister cub. She gave a gentle growl and the cub's ears flattened and her hackles raised. As a single unit, they faced the most shadowed area of the forest near them. From within the depths they saw two bright eyes glittering. The girl gave a growl and picked up her sister cub. She turned quickly on her heel and ran towards their den, picking up the pace as they heard the sound of pursuit. Just as it seemed they would be attacked, something sliced through the air and pierced the heart of the beast behind them. They stopped dead, eyes wide as they looked for the source of the slicing and killing.
    tab From out of the forest in front of them stepped a tanned male youth about 15. His hair was black in the shadows and his eyes hooded but the girl felt something quite inviting about him and she sent her sister cub into the den at their feet.
