Chapter 24

• Description: Well okay. My teacher made us read a book called the Giver. So she assigned us a project to write an ending. It ends like this [i]Or Maybe It Was Only An Echo[/i]. So I was told to write a Chapter 24. Basically an alternate ending.

Chapter 24

Jonas held Gabe tighly as his heart sank as the echo dissappeared.

"Were almost there Gabe, I promise" Jonas said. He tried to recall a brief memory of warmth and as he did he felt the brief but brisk bunch of warmth creep into his body. As he got enough he quickly transfered the memory into Gabe. As Jonas said he was right, they were in the new community.

Jonas toppled off the sled making sure Gabe was okay. Holding him tightly he stumbled. He was weak and hungy.

"Hes sick you know?" A voice called from behind him. "Give me him, I'll cure him of his sickness."

"Wh- Whats your name?" Jonas asked with his chattering teeth.

"Rosemary" the voice replied.

"Are you the givers daughter?" Jonas asked ina persistant tone.

"I was, when I asked for release the shot never worked. It just knocked me out, it lasted long enough to get a car there to here I guess?"

But wh-" Jonas was interupted.

"No more questions" Rosemary said. "We must get Gabe nourishment. You both need food, or else you'll starve.

Jonas picked up Graberiel and said "Gabe were home now"
