"I'll think about forgiving you mom, but don't be such a pessimist right now okay? I'll be forgiving you tomorrow, all i really need is a good night's sleep." I grinned at my mom while she apologized from across the table stabbing her spaghetti dinner. My mom took a deep breath and tried to not be negative just like i told her to.
"Okay, your right. I just can't be believe i did that to you" My mom signed ashamed of herself.
"Mom..."
She looked at me, first confused then her face understanding when she realized what she was about to do. She was about to make herself feel guilty and feel really bad, probably say that i don't deserve such a horrible mother like her. She knew i hated it when she did that, always had, always will. It just didn't any sense to me yeah people make mistakes, yeah they feel bad but sitting there saying sorry over and over again wouldn't make it go away i just never understood why people kept doing that. It's just like what my dad would do he would abuse me and sit there expecting things to just fly away, but actually they wouldn't until he would say sorry to me. It just doesn't make sense!
"I'm sorry honey i just feel so bad"
My mom signed.
"Personally, well this might sound cruel but... saying sorry isn't gonna make it like it never happened. Saying sorry over and over again isn't gonna change anything, yeah it might let the other person see your sorry and ashamed and will help them not misunderstand but mom you gotta understand. Saying sorry over and over again sometimes doesn't always solve everything. It's just like what dad does and you know it." I said softly not at all mad at her.
"Yeah i know just i want it to be that easy" she laughed the words. "I know it wont change anything except the other persons perspective but..."
"Sometimes you just don't know what else to do" I finished her sentenced. She smiled at me.
"Exactly" She bit her lip, hesitating. I signed and rolled my eyes she was horrible at hiding things.
"What is it?" I asked knowing there was something on her mind.
"Well i was just wondering... if... you know... you forgive me" My mom whispered. My eyes narrowed not sure how to respond to that.
"Um... I'm not sure mom, but please please don't get negative again" I begged
"Negative? When was i negative?" My mom said in some fake shock, i raised one of my eyebrows. Did she really not know that she was being negative just a minute ago? She signed and decided not to hide it.
"I'll try" I smiled glad she was finally trying after all these years. Which confused me, why now? Why not the first time i asked her about six years ago when i was eleven? What was so different from now to then? I shifted my head to the right with a confused look.
"Why now? Why not the first time i asked you? When i was eleven and i realized that you starting to get pretty dang pessimistic? What's the difference from then to now?" I asked in a demanding voice. She signed seeing that i was starting to get mad again. It was weird i always got mad over the most ridiculous things ever, but i couldn't help myself when my teen age hormones kicked in.
"When you left, to go to your fathers down in Mississippi. I would remember when you told me i was getting pretty negative before you left on the plan. I thought about it a lot and decided that you were right i was getting negative so i decided to get some help. Which didn't really work out that well they would always tell you to squeeze those toys but it would only help when i was mad not when i was getting pessimistic again. They totally ripped me off so i tried the old fashion way." My jaw dropped.
"You got help? Like you went to the classes and everything?"She nodded not saying anything.
"Wow didn't think you would go that far" I said in a shocked voice.
"Yep."
"So what's the old fashion way?"
"Doing yourself what else?" She laughed the words and i had to join a bit.
"Right. Well anyway im going to bed. goodnight." I put my dish in the sink, cleaned it then went to kiss my moms check and turned for the stairs to my blue and white room. Which had awesome bed sheets the bed looked like the kind of color where you would get blue play dough and white play dough mixing them together. You wouldn't mix them all the way but just enough where it looked like they came in the same carton. My nightstands were like that as well. I changed to my light pink baggy tank top and red short shorts to sleep in. I turned on the fan before i went to bed, turned off all the lights and slept soundlessly.
I got up in the morning not tired at all but didn't want to go to school. I had to admit it looked like i found my bed time, 9:30. I was about to get in my car when my mom asked me something. She leaned against the drives side door of her car, her arms crossed not at all mad, concerned or anything like that. The way she was standing might make someone think that though.
"What about those kids Jess? The vampires?" Shock shook through me.
"Those kids? How did you know there was more then one?"
"Honey wherever there's one there's at least another. No more then three in one place. They don't really come in packs."
"Ugh. Great even more things to worry about." I grumbled. "I don't know mom I'm hoping that nothing will happen."
"What if they catch on? I don't want to kill them" She frowned.
"Negativity mom" I reminded her while opening the door open a bit more and got in.
"Right" She said as she got in her car to go to work. My mom worked as a doctor at a near by hospital so she got good pay for her bills.
When i got to school i looked for him, i didn't know why but for some reason i had to talk to him. I didn't need to know why he was acting that way yesterday i already knew, it was my blood if you go to any other guardian of the mythical world -if you can find one- there blood wouldn't smell appetizing to a vampire or any other mythical creature that humans didn't believe were real. Only my blood did, it was my gift, any mythical creature that was able to smell would find my blood appetizing, even werewolves, human protectors. It helped during a fight they wouldn't know what to do except try to get my blood. Which would always throw them off focus every know and then.
Oh. My. Freaking. God. i thought as more vampires came in the parking lot, i guessed that they were Nate's brothers and sisters. There were more vampires?!? What the hell was this place? A park for vampires to just throw the humans around like little Ginnie pigs?!? My mother picked the worst place of Alaska to live! This was just great. I gridded my teeth together as i stared at them, they stared back. My mom was right, but she was also wrong. There was four of them. One of them had layered light brown hair to her shoulders with golden brown eyes, just like all of them they had pale white skin. Why were they so pale?!?! Yeah they were vampires but were vampires suppose to have pale skin? There was only one answer and i knew it already. Yes, yes they were. The girl was wearing a dark blue blouse with black leggings to her knees. It looked very, very cute on her i have to say so myself. There was another girl with dark brown wavy hair with dark golden eyes, her eyes were different because the black in her eyes was mixed in with the gold as for the other girl they were just golden brown. She wore a pink tank top as a under- shirt and a black v-neck shirt with neon words on it and blue skinny jeans. There was guy with hair that looked black just like a regular guys hair, golden eyes, with a white button down t-shirt and blue pants. The other guy had dirty blond hair just above his eyes but a little in them. He had dark golden brown eyes, and wore a blue shirt with some writing on it with dark blue pants with a little white around the pockets.
This is ridiculous, i thought. What made it even more ridiculous they walked up to me when they were out of there cars. There eyes getting a little darker each time they got closer. My blood it was making them thirsty, good. They deserved a little pain they were monsters but i was a monster to... not normal. I stood up straight standing my ground.... and tried to calm down...
"You" the dirty blond one growled. The girl with layers gave him a warning glance. Next to her was the girl with dark brown curly hair, then the guy with black short hair... then the one who growled the word at me.
"Elric, calm down. We don't know if it was her fault." she turned to me and smiled. "Hi, my name is Asmie, this is Jenna and Dennis. You already know him" She pointed to the guy that growled at me "His name Elric" I didn't take my eyes off Elric, what was he accusing me of? I didn't do anything.
"I don't see what your blaming me for, i didn't do anything to you. Or your brother or sisters for that matter. So before you start to blame am i aloud to know why your so pissed at me?" i said under my breath, Elric hissed.
"Your right you didn't do anything us" Asmie said in a calm voice but i could hear it took a lot of effort to make it so calm. I turned to her confused.
"But..."
"Hush now, i said you didn't do anything to us. It's our brother were talking about, Nate. You had a class with him yesterday, he left yesterday right after school. He didn't explain himself he only said to talk to you" I could see from the corner of my eye i saw Dennis put a hand on Elric`s shoulder, holding him back.
"Me? I don't know what i did wrong" I lied. "He was the one acting like a psychopath! He stared at me the whole time like he might just eat me any second." I grumbled. I had to put on a good show, yeah they were part of the mythical world but we guards of the mythical world had our rules. It was our job to see if they would do anything wrong, and kill them if they tried, every one of them that lived with them to. All there eyes narrowed. I knew what was going on, but they didn't.
"Alright, thank you for your cooperation." Jenna said, speaking for the first time.
"Your welcome" I said, they all turned to leave, except Elric.
"Elric, lets go. She had nothing to do with it." I could tell he was getting madder.
"Liar!" He accused.
"Excuse me?!" i said as Asmie went in front of him and looked him in the eyes, searching. This was bad, this was really bad. She turned to me, her eyes shocked.
"You lied to us" She accused.
"Why would i lie to you?! I don't think any of you were there now were you? So don't try to say that i lied to you when you weren't even there! So you can run along now" Dennis hissed under his breath when i was done and i jump back a little to help with my convincing.
"We don't need to be there. We have our own ways of figuring things out. Plus if i were i wouldn't be talking that way to us so you can watch your little mouth okay?" Jenna spit the words at me.
"Right, what are you gonna do about it? Fight me? Fine by me, lets go" I knew they wouldn't really fight me, they knew it wouldn't help anything and i knew that to.
"Don't tempt me girl" She murmured as she got tugged away by Dennis. Asmie put her hand on Elrics shoulder, warning him.
"Please, just tell us what happened. We miss our brother, and you acting this way is not helping any of us" Asmie said in a sad voice.
"Why should i? Your freaking family is trying to fight me and you want me to help you?" i demanded
"It would be easier if you did."
"I told you what happened okay? I got in class, sat down next to him just like i was suppose to, and he got all crazy like okay? So don't blame me if you don't like the truth" I said, sticking to me original story.
"The truth" Elric hissed the words.
"I gave you the truth okay so you can stop calling me a liar dam it!" I walked away not waiting for there response. If they hit my car... they were dead... not literally but still.
When i got in science Mike starting talking to me when i got in my seat but i told him i wasn't in the mood to talk. He asked if it had to do with Asmie and her family talking to me this morning and i said no, knowing it was best to lie about it. The rest of the day was the same and i sat with Mike and his friends at lunch not talking to anyone. Mike thankfully told everyone it was best it they don't talk to me right now since i was in a bad mood and they agreed.
What was i gonna do? I couldn't tell my mom, i knew that was death path already. It looks like I'm going to have to solve this on my own without having them figure out what i am...HOW THE HELL WAS I GONNA DO THAT?!? ugh, this is why human friends were so much simpler. When i got home my mom wanted to talk to me, make a small conversation but i told her i wasn't in the mood and she got all worried but i promised i would explain later. Which i definitely was not going to be that stupid to tell her what happened at school. I went up stairs did my homework, listened to my radio, and went on the computer for about an hour. After that i drove to a forest nearby and thought about what i was going to do about these dam vampires. I came up with nothing but more worry when it was 8:00 o'clock so i signed and went home.
