• The Gods Must be Crazy: Gaia at War
    Article by Naryu Elda

Gaia had no gods for a reason. What we know of the history of the Sentinel and the Overseer is just a taste of the foolishness gods possess. Their selfishness and their pettiness cause far too much trouble for mortals to bear. The war between the Overseer and the Sentinel was brought about by a disagreement over what augmentations they would give a mere worm to better aid its defense against any and all threats.

The Overseer may be benevolent and good, but he is not without his faults. It was he who first began to raise the banners of war. It was he who trapped the Sentinel which led to her madness. His obsession with preparing for the defense against things that may not come to pass has led us to this war. His self-righteousness has much of the morally “superior” Gaians at odds with their more “wild and chaotic” brothers and sisters.

The Sentinel, as sympathetic as one could find her, is a wretch whose thirst for freedom and revenge have brought her to the decision that if the Gaians fail to stand at her side in service, they shall be burned along with the Overseer and his forces. To this end, she has not only garnered the service of willing Gaians but, if the Overseer’s forces are to be believed, she has gained far more than her fair share of troops through the application of dark magic, brainwashing, and bribery.

With all of this said, this reporter hopes that the War between “Good” and “Evil” (which is just one of the many instances of Gaians being torn into opposing sides during the holidays) will be over with less casualties than she fears.
