Participating in class, asking questions, writing, playing my flute. Those where the basic things I did today. I was day dreaming again when I noticed that I was there physically but not mentally. I was off at the beach, which was really weird. I never go to the beach, maybe, once in a while but that is about it. Any ways, I was in Science making a collage about me and I found a picture of clouds. I think that is how my mind went to this undiscovered place. And my mind got a little more creative while writing this. Well, here it is, another story-day dream.
I was at the beach and it felt like Oregon. The sneaker waves were all around. The mist was trickling down from the gray clouds. Far off in the distance you could see the children running around. As the wind blew, you could hear the soft giggles of the children as they flew sand at each other.
The sun was hiding behind the clouds as the beaches became vacant. The sun was setting behind the clouds not too long after everyone was gone. The skies turned pink as the sun faded and there was little to none at the beach. I was alone. Just my book and I spending some time together.
As I walked along the edges reading my book, I was caught off guard by a child's scream. I was searching for the child when a sneaker wave overcame me. I was then the one in trouble. I took a deep breath not trying to exhale unless I had to. My oxygen was limited. The waves over powered me. Every slam I took, took me along with it. I was soon past the water markers. This happened within minutes.
As I took one more breath before I was pushed under water and pulled by the undertow, I saw a figure in the distance. At first, I thought it was a hallucination. The image became clearer. Someone was out there. It looked like they were swimming towards me. Why would anyone do that? They too, would drown. This was beyond my ability though. They made their choice and now they would risk everything they ever had.
The figure was coming closer than I thought they could. It appeared to be someone about the same age as me but I was in shock from the drowning so it could have been a bird for all I knew.
The waves won and my last breath of air escaped from my lips. I was then drowning at miraculous speed. The water grew taller. As the water became feet above my head, I could not see. My senses were blocked out from the shock. Next thing I knew someone was shouting in my ear. In addition, pounding on my lungs. That is when I noticed who was there. They were going to make me leave.
As soon as the air in my lungs circulated, I was gasping for more air. Then next thing I heard beside me loud breathing was a gasp for air but it was not from me. So I was saved but at what cost? Another life? I jumped up only to find myself fall back down. I stared at his face trying to see what I should do. I was not sure what to do. I was only human. Miracles did not happen because of me. It was the opposite. If would of stayed away from the water and kept my eyes around me I wouldn’t even be in this situation. I felt so helpless. As I tried to see if he was suffering. My eyes hurt but the salt water was not the cause of this pain.
As his breathing, he turned to normal breathing pace mine too slowed and I was soon able to run to him. He said it was just blows from waves and he would be soon better. He had also said we had better get inside. I gazed at the clouds and noticed I was in the water longer than I thought. My skin was wrinkled and I was pale. It was turning pitch black, rumbles of thunder, and lighting bolts lit up the sky above us. As we hurried to find a covered place, I tripped over a sand castle and he caught me before I landed face first. Our pace increased was we were running towards the house. It began to rain, as we were almost half way to shelter but what was the difference? We were already soaked and dragged down by the heaviness, nothing more could stop us.
